Job Description Summary
The Production Supervisor will be responsible for frontline and / or shift management and defined work or projects with moderate complexity. In this role, you will follow an individual work plan, meet day-to-day objectives, and resolve issues through immediate action and both short and long-term planning.Job Description
- Provide manufacturing / technical assistance and leadership to assigned work group
- Manage production employees and production schedule requirements to include timekeeping, overtime, time off and discipline
- Support and meet production schedules, drive productivity and quality initiatives, and manage the area within budget guidelines and controls
- Utilize data analysis to improve safety, decrease quality defects, and increase productivity
- Communicate and enforce handbook and other plant policies
- Interface with internal and external customers, define priorities for shift and work group leveraging production meetings (and shift change meetings, as needed)
- Actively participate in Environment, Health and Safety initiatives and corrective actions
- Actively participate on cross-functional teams and demonstrate necessary leadership and coaching skills to other team members
- Help train and develop skills of production employees; educate production employees on business strategy and metrics
Qualifications/Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university or college (OR Associates Degree with a minimum of 2 years of experience in a manufacturing environment OR a High School Diploma / GED with a minimum of 4 years of experience in a manufacturing environment OR 4 years of military experience) + 3 additional years of manufacturing experience
Desired Characteristics
- Previous experience in manufacturing, quality, sourcing or operations, management experience
- Ability to work effectively on a team and serve as a positive change agent
- Previous experience working in a CNC machine shop
- Demonstrated experience managing New Product Introduction (NPI) in a fast paced production environment
- Strong analytical skills and willingness to learn and work as technical expert
- Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize aggressive deadlines
- Six Sigma training / Lean (GE employees only)
- Demonstrated oral and written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
