Role Summary/Purpose

Installation, commissioning, trouble-shooting and service of medium/high voltage generators and associated excitation systems, switchgear, protection devices etc.
Essential Responsibilities

All on site life extensions, repairs and inspection-related service activities able to be performed at customer site. Includes onsite machining, NDT, blading, winding, critical welding, generator diagnostics. Contributes to the development of an operational year plan for own department activities of the team. Discusses consequences of changes in products and processes for the own team in the organization. Works together with people from the business unit. Contacts are under guidance and/or geared towards collecting or giving technical information. Targeted clients. Contracts are predefined and a framework of conditions is set and followed.
Qualifications/Requirements

·  Degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering or Electrical Trade Qualification with at least major work experience or equivalent knowledge or experience

·  The successful candidate should have an excellent working knowledge of industrial power systems with experience in medium and high voltage electrical technology.

·  Be a leading example in maintaining high standards of EHS in the field, working directly with the GE EHS leadership and service management teams and our customers towards achieving our goal of zero injuries.

·  Deliver field services fulfilment for our customers in terms of EHS, Quality and Delivery.

·  Develop and further expand technical knowledge and expertise.

·  Perform administrative functions; such as safety plans, risk assessments, method statements, site inspection reports, technical reports, materials requisitions, customer reports, time sheet and expenses T&L

·  Ability to build strong customer relationships.

·  Pro-active approach to problem solving and issuing resolution.

·  Strong attention to detail.

·  Work efficiently without direct supervision.

·  High energy, self-starter, ability to achieve results with minimal supervision.

·  Excellent interpersonal, verbal & written communication skills

·  Computer skills to include Outlook, Excel, and Word

·  Willingness to travel. 80% travel is undertaken in Africa/Russia/Asia/EU.

·  Strong Customer Service Orientation.

·  Fluent (verbal and written) in the English language.

·  Ability to obtain Valid Offshore Survival training certificate (BOSIET, MIST etc.)

·  Willing and eligible to work world-wide and offshore at short notice

Desired Characteristics

·  Experience of working as an Electrical field engineer, or as an Electrical maintenance supervisor in a steel mill, oil, gas or petrochemical facility (onshore or offshore), paper mill, materials handling at a port, mining, or working with MV/HV electrical test equipment.

·  Technical skills in power distribution and/or Drives, controls & automation.

·  Experience of PLC programming

·  Experience of using Omicron test equipment.
