Role Summary/Purpose
The Microbiologist executes assigned microbiological or chemistry testing in accordance with regulated laboratory testing techniques, approved procedures and Customer specifications.
Essential Responsibilities
· Perform laboratory analysis of samples, using aseptic technique, following established procedures and in full compliance with official compendial, health authority regulations (eg. USP 788 microscopy method, Bioburden, BET, environmental monitoring).
· Operates and maintains laboratory instruments, while ensuring the reliability of instrumentation through proper maintenance, with ability to troubleshoot minor issues
· Maintains accurate records of work performed and documents results, according to good documentation practices and established procedures.
· Must analyze, evaluate, and interpret data, notifying clients of results, and assisting to resolve issues, if applicable.
· Reports any unusual or out-of-specification testing results to management immediately.
· Perform data entry and trend analysis.
· Performs media preparation, cleaning of glassware and reusable equipment, and/or steam sterilization of supplies and equipment.
· Process purchase order to maintains inventory for specified area.
· Perform test result investigations for root cause and reports findings by mean of CAPA.
· Conduct qualification of methods and/or other laboratory studies, according to scientific protocols.
· Implements methods and procedures for testing chemical and microbiological attributes following Change Control procedures.
· Must participate and lead continuous improvement using lean principles to assist with streamlining and making the laboratory efficient.
· Participates in the research, development, and review of methods and Standard Operating Procedures.
· Maintains compliance with company policies, regulatory standards and requirements.
· Maintains a high level of safety awareness and compliance to safety standards and requirements.
Qualifications/Requirements
· B.S. degree in Biological Sciences or related field, plus three (3) or more years of QC microbiology laboratory experience with minimum of one (1) year performing USP 788 by microscopy

· Must have knowledge of aseptic technique, environmental monitoring, and microbiological Quality Control testing and procedures.
· Has excellent manual dexterity and aseptic technique.
· Has ability to complete sampling or testing assignments in a timely and compliant manner, with minimal supervision.
· Demonstrate ability to handle multiple assignments simultaneously and complete assignments in a timely and compliant manner, with minimal supervision. Knowledge of cGMPs and compendial testing required.
· Must have effective verbal and written communication skills.
· Has high level of technical understanding of methods, equipment, and procedures in work area.
· Analyzes, evaluates, and initially interprets data in assigned area.
· Able to provide training to others in area of expertise, as assigned.
