Job Description Summary

Reporting to the Operations Leader, the On Wing Support Tooling Coordinator is responsible for the effective management of onsite engine tooling, with a strong focus on inventory management, calibration compliance, storage and usage, technician support, and ordering & return management.

The role works closely with Site Business Leaders, Manufacturing Engineers, Planners, Technicians, Quality, Material & Logistics, and Lean teams to ensure tooling availability, compliance, and readiness that supports safe, high-quality, and on-time engine maintenance activities.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities

Calibration & Compliance

· 
Lead calibration compliance for all shop-assigned special tooling and hand tools, ensuring full adherence to internal and regulatory requirements.

· 
Act as site Indysoft (tooling calibration software maintenance) user, including:

· 
Data entry and system maintenance

· 
Proactive scheduling of re-calibrations to avoid tool expiry

· 
Coordination of tool routings to calibration vendor(s)

· 
Providing documentation and support during audits

· 
Build and maintain strong relationships with calibration vendor(s) to ensure service reliability, turnaround time, and cost-effectiveness.

Tool Crib & Storage Management

· 
Serve as gatekeeper for all stored tools onsite, including the management of the tool crib and controlled areas.

· 
Ensure a LEAN, organized layout for tooling storage and material flow throughout the facility, in line with 5S and visual management principles.

· 
Own packaging and crating of tooling, providing accurate weights and dimensions to the Logistics Leader to enable efficient transport planning.

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Continuous Improvement

· 
Partner with Site Engineers, Planners, Material & Logistics, Quality, and Lean to support productivity, cost-out, and standardization projects.

· 
Contribute to problem-solving and root-cause investigations where tooling, handling, or storage is a contributing factor.

· 
Support digital and process improvement initiatives, identifying and implementing opportunities to simplify tooling processes and reduce waste.

EWMS & Systems Support

· 
Provide day-to-day support for eWMS (tooling software program), including:

· 
Inventory master data maintenance

· 
Online ordering and shipping transactions

· 
Monitoring and resolving system-related tooling issues

· 
Act as the site “go-to” resource for eWMS training, user access permissions, and best-practice sharing across shop personnel.

· 
Drive consistency in tooling processes and system usage across the site, aligning with global standards where applicable.

Technician Support & Stakeholder Communication

· 
Maintain open, proactive communication with technicians to understand tooling needs, pain points, and improvement opportunities.

· 
Provide timely issue resolution, including troubleshooting missing, damaged, or non-conforming tools.

· 
Liaise with other sites and HQ as a tooling focal, ensuring alignment and sharing of lessons learned, simplifications, and future enhancements.

· 
Collaborate closely with the Global Tooling Shop Coordinator (Batavia HQ) to drive continuous, sustainable improvements and standard work.

Safety, Quality, and Site Initiatives

· 
Support site-specific initiatives, including:

· 
EH&S framework implementation and compliance

· 
Tooling-related quality investigations and corrective actions

· 
Ergonomic improvements and shop-floor enhancements related to tooling and handling

· 
Digital programs and tooling-related technology implementations

· 
Promote a strong safety culture, ensuring tools are stored, handled, and maintained in a way that minimizes risk to people, product, and equipment.

Inventory Control & Logistics

· 
Own onsite special tooling inventory control, including:

· 
Location management and traceability

· 
Dock arrival/departure inspection

· 
Check-in / check-out processes and controls

· 
Support shipments and reverse logistics for field-deployed tooling assets, ensuring on-time dispatch, receipt, and return.

· 
Lead the annual physical inventory of special tooling and manage monthly cycle counts, ensuring accuracy and timely reconciliation of discrepancies.

Qualifications and Experience

· 
Field Service, Supply Chain, or aviation engine shop experience, or a technical discipline degree from an accredited university or college.

· 
Customer-focused mindset, with a strong commitment to supporting operations and technicians.

· 
Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision in a dynamic environment.

· 
Demonstrated cross-functional integration skills, with experience working across operations, engineering, quality, and logistics.

· 
Process-driven approach to problem solving, using data and root-cause methodologies.

· 
Proven track record of execution, delivering to deadlines with strong follow-through.

· 
Experience in Project Management, Lean, or Quality functions, including basic understanding of continuous improvement tools.

· 
Technical expertise with aviation commercial tooling, including usage, maintenance, and handling requirements.

· 
Technical understanding and drawing interpretation skills, ideally with a background in aircraft or aerospace engineering.

· 
Ability to work effectively in a matrix organization, positively influencing stakeholders and embracing / leading change.

· 
Prior experience with material handling equipment, with forklift operator training or willingness to obtain certification.

Preferred Qualifications

· 
Experience with Indysoft or similar calibration/asset management systems.

· 
Experience with eWMS or equivalent warehouse/inventory management systems.

· 
Prior experience in an On Wing Support or aviation MRO (Maintenance, Repair & Overhaul) environment.

· 
Familiarity with EH&S, Quality Management Systems, and audit requirements.
