Role Summary/Purpose
Work for the lead innovator in Optical Instrument Transformers. Our fiber optic instruments are lighter, safer, and environmentally superior to traditional copper wire-wound, oil or SF6-filled transformers. Essential Responsibilities
The Lead EHS (Environmental, Health & Safety) Specialist will support the Site Manager in Phoenix to achieve and maintain EHS excellence. This role has primary responsibility for the management of all key programs / initiatives in terms of EHS and Safety.
As the Lead EHS Specialist, you will:
· Lead individuals located at manufacturing sites and fixed facilities (e.g., service shop or O&M site) that provide day-to-day EHS support for that facility
· Develop new solutions under guidance and/or in a team setting / based upon precedents in the organizations
· Work together with business leadership at SPB and EB level
· Specify needs and communicate about project approach and present outcomes of research done
· Be responsible for developing and promoting a healthy and safe work environment for all employees
· Maintain 100% compliance with federal, provincial and local EHS for the Shreveport facility
· Develop plans to ensure compliance of plant operations with government regulatory agency requirements relating to air, water, waste and associated health and safety
· Integrate with all functions and associates to aggressively reduce incidents and injuries
· Lead EHS programs and involvement across all functions
· Lead implementation of all GE EHS programs, including all Gensuite web tools, conducting EHS training, compliance audits, driving safety committee, culture change, lean-ergonomics, crisis management / emergency preparedness, Ecomagination GHG commitments, risk reduction projects, injury / illness case management, providing progress reports
· Establish, lead, guide and coach key EHS teams: EHS Committee, Ergo team, Accident Investigation Team, Health and Safety Committee, etc.
· Participate and incorporate EHS into NPIs and process / production changes
· Liaise, cultivate and develop solid relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including regulators
· Execute on plans to drive world-class EHS performance
Qualifications/Requirements
· Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university or college
· Minimum of 3 years of experience with safety, compliance, and environmental programs
· Minimum of 3 years of experience in Fixed Facilities
Desired Characteristics
· Six Sigma Greenbelt certified or equivalent quality certification
· Experience in / with Lean manufacturing
· Knowledge of Energy Programs and Systems
· Working knowledge of Gensuite
· Related professional designation (e.g., CSP, CIH, etc.)
· Computer proficiency
· Ability to develop and drive to an EHS excellence vision
· Ability to integrate business and financial objectives into EHS decision-making
· Mastery of influencing skills with proven ability to work within and lead cross-functional teams
· Results-oriented with the ability to drive effective short-term actions within the context of a longer term system improvement vision
