Job Description Summary

The Facility Licensing Engineer role is a cross functional discipline that integrates the regulatory and business needs for Global Nuclear Fuel – Americas (GNF-A). The role requires executing on business needs while ensuring compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations and rules. A detail focused implementation of existing procedures and practices while meeting safety, quality, delivery, and cost (SQDC) is required to achieve acceptable outcomes.

Relocation to Wilmington, NC is required.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and prepare license applications and supporting regulatory documents, including preparation of responses to Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) and other regulator questions.
  • Establish and maintain effective business relationships with the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) and non-US nuclear regulators as main point of contact.
  • Provide expert knowledge of the US NRC and non-US nuclear rules and regulations for fuel facilities and fuel products.
  • Support resolution of nuclear licensing/regulatory compliance issues, including required requests for additional information.
  • Support management efforts to ensure nuclear license/regulatory requirements are met.
  • Interface with project teams and regulatory personnel on regulatory issues, and secure applicable permissions and approvals related to work scopes.
  • Maintain nuclear licensing basis documents and correspondence records.
  • Manage periodic and reactive nuclear regulatory inspections.
  • Participation in Wilmington Emergency Organization (EO) as the Licensing Advisor is required. Respond to site emergency events as required.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college
  • Minimum 2 years experience with Regulatory compliance.

  • Relocation to Wilmington, NC is required.

Desired Qualifications

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Prior regulatory interface experience.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems.
  • Ability to document, plan, communicate, and execute programs.
  • Project management skills.
