The Additive Development MAE will provide materials expertise and leadership for many key additive components under development for existing and NPI programs. In addition, you will be responsible for the MRL/TRL advancement of critical additive technologies & materials required to enable design, cost, and quality goals for these components, partnering closely with design and manufacturing to balance needs and capabilities.

Roles and Responsibilities

Responsibilities in this role may include but would not be limited to:

·  In collaboration with horizontal team partners (materials, design, manufacturing, quality), advance the technical maturity of key additive materials and manufacturing methods using the TRL/MRL processes to advance design technology and reduce cost
·  Provide MAE support for parts under development that utilize additive manufacturing
·  Build expertise in additive materials development and application through execution of technical projects
·  Learn from and capture lessons learned and best practices in this developing field
·  Communicate significant developments with leadership
·  Provide input on impact of proposed manufacturing or design changes, as requested
·  Support and improve standard processes and documentation as it relates to additive materials development, specifications, and best practices
·  Demonstrate flexibility to support new materials efforts and root cause investigations

In this role, you will gain or build:

·  Systems thinking through the broader integration of design, materials science, manufacturing, and quality
·  Technical understanding of GE’s most advanced manufacturing technology

Required Qualifications

·  Bachelor’s Degree in Materials Science or related Engineering field from an accredited college or university
·  Minimum of 1 years of experience in materials engineering, application, or manufacturing process development.
·  Local travel between sites will be required
·  Able to work in-person and on-site (not virtual or remote) >95% of the time
·  Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required.  We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening.
·  Due to the nature of the duties of this position, this role requires the individual to obtain and maintain US Government Security Clearance; prerequisite for a security clearance is U.S. citizenship

Desired Characteristics

·  Experience supporting a TRL development program
·  Experience with additively manufactured hardware
·  Experience with cobalt-based alloys, steels and/or nickel super-alloys
·  Advanced degree in Materials Science or related Engineering field from an accredited college or university
·  Strong oral and written communication skills
·  Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
