Position Description:
We are seeking a Technical Architect to join our CGI team!
This career opportunity offers a unique and dynamic opportunity for candidates with a strong background in legacy systems, IBM Host Access Transformation Services (HATS), and cloud environments.
This position can be located remotely anywhere in the US; however the preferred location is Charlotte, NC. This role is to be completed in a hybrid capacity.

Your future duties and responsibilities:
How you'll make an impact
As a key member of the technical team, the candidate will be responsible for the following principal duties and responsibilities:
1. Legacy Systems Stabilization and Containment:
Lead efforts to stabilize and modernize legacy systems, ensuring continued functionality and minimizing disruptions.
Provide expert-level containment solutions to extend the lifecycle of legacy applications while developing modernization strategies.
2. IBM Host Access Transformation Services (HATS) Development:
Design and develop custom solutions using IBM HATS in an IBM Liberty environment.
Ensure seamless integration with legacy systems such as AIX and zOS Mainframes, modernizing the user experience while preserving core functionality.
3. Cloud Environment Development and Support:
Build and maintain AWS environments, including launching EC2 instances, creating security groups, auto-scaling, and managing load balancers.
Implement cloud-based solutions for business problems, ensuring the scalability and security of cloud infrastructure.
4. Troubleshooting and Production Support:
Provide ongoing troubleshooting, maintenance, and support for applications built using IBM HATS and other legacy technologies.
Quickly diagnose and resolve issues in both development and production environments, ensuring minimal downtime.
5. Java and Web Development:
Utilize expertise in Java, JSP, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS to develop, maintain, and enhance web-based solutions integrated with legacy and cloud systems.
Ensure solutions meet both technical and business requirements, following best practices for performance and security.
6. Version Control and Collaboration:
Manage and maintain code repositories using GitHub, GitLab, or TFS, ensuring version control and effective collaboration across the team.
Coordinate with cross-functional teams to manage code deployment and integrate new features or bug fixes.
7. Asynchronous Processing and Integration:
Develop and maintain asynchronous messaging systems using JMS and IBM MQ Series, ensuring efficient communication between distributed systems.
Design scalable solutions for real-time data processing and system integration.
8. Continuous Improvement and Innovation:
Identify areas for improvement within the existing system architecture and propose innovative solutions to enhance system performance, security, and scalability.
Stay updated on emerging technologies and best practices to contribute to the continuous modernization of both legacy and cloud-based systems.
This role demands a high level of technical expertise, problem-solving, and collaboration, ensuring the successful delivery of mission-critical projects and the ongoing optimization of legacy systems in a modern IT landscape.
Required qualifications to be successful in this role:
What you'll bring
Extensive Experience with Legacy Systems:
A minimum of 10 years of experience working with legacy systems, languages, and containment architecture. This includes the ability to stabilize and modernize legacy applications, particularly those running on AIX and zOS Mainframe environments.
IBM Host Access Transformation Services (HATS) Expertise:
At least 10 years of experience with IBM HATS, including custom development, design, and integration. The candidate must have a strong understanding of HATS in IBM Liberty environments and demonstrate proficiency in modernizing legacy systems through this platform.
Cloud Environment Proficiency:
10 years of experience working in cloud environments, particularly AWS. The candidate should be skilled in building AWS environments, launching EC2 instances, setting up security groups, auto-scaling, load balancers, and ensuring cloud-based system security and scalability.
Java and Web Development:
A minimum of 10 years of experience with Java, JSP, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS. These skills are critical for developing, troubleshooting, and enhancing web applications integrated with both legacy and cloud systems.
Solution Implementation and Production Support:
10 years of experience in designing, implementing, and supporting enterprise-level solutions. The candidate must be adept at providing production support, troubleshooting issues, and maintaining system reliability.
Version Control Systems:
Experience with GitHub, GitLab, or TFS (or similar services) is essential. The candidate must be capable of managing code repositories, ensuring version control, and collaborating effectively with the development team.
Asynchronous Processing Experience:
At least one year of experience with asynchronous processing using JMS and IBM MQ Series, ensuring efficient communication and data flow between systems.
Desired Qualifications:
Leadership and Team Collaboration:
Strong collaborative skills and the ability to work effectively within a team are desired. Experience leading teams or mentoring junior staff would be a plus.
Knowledge of User Authentication Principles:
Experience in user authentication principles and security protocols in cloud environments is highly desirable.
Automation and Performance Optimization:
Familiarity with automation tools and performance optimization techniques in cloud environments, especially AWS, would enhance the candidate’s ability to streamline operations.
Problem-Solving and Innovation:
A proactive approach to identifying system inefficiencies and proposing innovative solutions to optimize performance, security, and scalability is valued.
Key Skills/Experience Must-Haves:
• 10+ years of experience with legacy systems and HATS.
• Proficiency in AWS cloud environments.
• Strong skills in Java, JSP, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.
• Proven track record in solution implementation, production support, and system troubleshooting.
• Experience with asynchronous processing using JMS and IBM MQ Series.
This role requires a highly skilled professional with deep experience in both legacy systems and cloud technology. Essential qualifications focus on the candidate’s technical expertise, while desired qualifications enhance their ability to collaborate, innovate, and optimize system performance.
Minimum Education Required: Bachelor's Degree

The determination of this range includes various factors not limited to skill set, level, experience, relevant training, and licensure and certifications. To support the ability to reward for merit-based performance, CGI typically does not hire individuals at or near the top of the range for their role. Compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range for this role in the U.S. is $108,600-$190,100".
