Position Description:
We are seeking a motivated Software Engineering Co-op with strong skills in full-stack development, AI/ML, and modern application engineering. The ideal candidate is a hands-on builder who enjoys solving problems, creating prototypes, and working across both frontend and backend technologies.
In this role, the student will contribute to application development, AI feature integration, data workflows, and technical research to support ongoing product or engineering initiatives.

Your future duties and responsibilities:
1. Full-Stack Development
• Develop features across the stack using technologies such as JavaScript/TypeScript, React, Node.js, Python, Java, or similar.
• Build and maintain REST APIs, UI components, and lightweight tools or utilities.
• Write clean, efficient, and testable code following best practices.
2. AI/ML Implementation
• Support development of AI-driven features using libraries and APIs such as TensorFlow, OpenAI APIs, or computer vision frameworks.
• Assist in training, testing, and tuning ML models.
• Integrate AI-based capabilities into applications or prototypes.
3. Data Processing & Analytics
• Work with data pipelines, real-time data sources, or analytics platforms.
• Assist in improving performance, latency, or scalability of data-driven workflows.
• Contribute to research and analysis tasks as needed.
4. Prototyping & Innovation
• Build proof-of-concepts for new ideas or product enhancements.
• Experiment with modern tools, frameworks, and APIs.
• Document prototypes and present findings to the team.
5. Collaboration & Communication
• Participate in Agile ceremonies, team discussions, and code reviews.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (engineering, product, design).
• Prepare clear technical documentation, diagrams, and demo walkthroughs.
Required qualifications to be successful in this role:
• Currently enrolled in a Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related program.
• Strong programming experience in Python, Java, or C++.
• Hands-on experience with full-stack technologies (React, Node.js, JavaScript/TypeScript, etc.).
• Exposure to AI/ML or computer vision (TensorFlow, OpenCV, MediaPipe, etc.).
• Familiarity with version control (Git) and common development tools.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and debugging skills.
Preferred Skills
• Experience with mobile or desktop applications (Android Studio, JavaFX, etc.).
• Knowledge of cloud platforms or backend services (e.g., Firebase).
• Experience participating in team-based engineering or robotics projects.
• Interest in AI integration, automation, and emerging technologies.

Additional Requirements
• Open to students in 2nd, 3rd, or 4th year.
• Prior technical project or internship experience is an asset.
• Students with a technical background or demonstrated programming experience will be preferred.
CGI is providing a reasonable estimate of the pay range for this role. The determination of this range includes factors such as skill set level, geographic market, experience and training, and licenses and certifications. Compensation decisions depend on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $18-32/hour. This role is an existing vacancy.
