Position Description:

You will become part of a multinational team supporting on System Integration & Verification activities for Earth Observation missions. You will support your more junior colleagues and, potentially, you may take over the lead of a small team.
In this role you will have responsibility for the development of test specifications and procedures as well as the definition and production of test data.
You will also be responsible for providing input to planning and execution of formal test campaigns and generating test reports

Your future duties and responsibilities:

The Space AIV Engineer (m/f/d) is responsible for planning, executing, and documenting the assembly, integration, and verification activities of complex hardware and software systems. This role ensures that all subsystems interface correctly, perform according to requirements, and are validated through structured test campaigns. The AIV Engineer collaborates closely with systems engineering, design, manufacturing, and quality teams to deliver high reliability products.

The assembly and integration comprises of the following activities:

• Plan and execute integration of subsystems into complete systems.
• Develop integration procedures, work instructions, and assembly documentation.
• Ensure proper configuration management and traceability during integration activities.
• Collaborate with design teams to resolve interface and compatibility issues.

Based on Test Specifications you develop Test Procedures and Test Scripts to cover Integration Testing and Verification Testing.

Specifically, your area of activities includes the following tasks:

Engineering Activities for I&V: focused on the preparation and contribution to the technical documentation related to I&V activities (VCDs, engineering and I&V plans, test specifications, test procedures):

• Verification Control: for the requirements to be verified by test propose/define the testing activities. Ensure the scope is in line with the expected versions and that the testing activities can be scheduled within the timeframe foreseen
• Observing and analysis of I&V tests run at segment and/or sub-segment level.
• Writing of integration and verification test specifications.

Integration and Verification Activities: performing the corresponding integration and verification testing campaigns according to the agreed plans:

• Ensuring sufficiently in advance of execution that relevant procedures, tools and data are ready to be used, performing any final tuning or set-up as necessary.

Validation Activities: validation of systems when performing the corresponding validation test campaigns:

• Support to scheduling and executing of all the validation activities and testing in close coordination with the end-client.
• Ensuring sufficiently in advance of the execution of the tests that relevant procedures, tools and data are ready to be used, performing any final tuning or set-up as necessary.

Required qualifications to be successful in this role:

Required qualifications to be successful in this role include:
- University degree in an engineering field or relevant scientific discipline (e.g. Physics, Computer Science or related fields)
- Formal requirement verification
- Proven experience in the integration, verification and validation (IV&V)
- Formal test procedure preparation and execution
- In addition to the technical know-how you are characterized by your social competencies and enjoy team-oriented work
- Strong analytical skills to understand complex systems
- Experience with Python, bash scripting and network protocols
- Experienced user of Linux/UNIX
- Goal oriented mind set
- Ability to work independently
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to work in an international environment
- Fluent verbal and written English language skills
Advantage
- Understanding of software and system testing concepts
- Knowledge of relevant ECSS standards
- Experience in Ground Systems Engineering and IV&V related activities for elements of a ground segment for earth observation missions
- Satellite Communications (packet TM/TC, PUS Standard, SLE protocol)
- Experience with version control systems like git
