A particular focus of our work lies in the space ground segment, which forms the operational backbone of every mission.
As a Junior Cyber Security Engineer (m/f/d), you will learn how to design, analyse and improve the security of IT and software systems used in space operations. You will work closely with experienced engineers in a collaborative team environment, gaining hands-on experience and continuous feedback as you develop your skills.
From the beginning, you will contribute to real projects while building your expertise step by step, supported by colleagues who share knowledge and guide your development.

Your future duties and responsibilities:

As a Junior Cyber Security Engineer (m/f/d), you are part of our Cyber Security team in the Space domain and contribute to international and national space organisations and companies. Depending on your interests and development path, your tasks may include:
• Support in the design of security architectures for IT and software systems in satellite ground segments
• Assistance in analysing and assessing vulnerabilities in IT infrastructures (software, hardware, networks)
• Implementation of defined security requirements within space projects
• Contribution to the preparation and execution of security tests and validations
• Support in creating technical documentation and project deliverables
• Participation in internal and customer project meetings and reviews
• Assistance in integrating cybersecurity aspects into system engineering processes
• Support in risk assessments and basic threat analyses
• Collaboration with senior colleagues on security concepts and mitigation strategies

Required qualifications to be successful in this role:

Qualification
• First practical experience or strong interest in cybersecurity, IT security or system engineering
• Basic understanding of security principles and IT architectures
• Familiarity with networking, operating systems and common IT technologies
• A completed or ongoing degree in IT security, computer science, electrical engineering or a comparable field
• Willingness to learn and develop in a complex and regulated environment
• Very good communication skills in German and English, both written and spoken
Nice To Have
• Initial exposure to standards such as ISO 27001 or similar
• Knowledge of basic risk management concepts
• Experience with scripting or programming (e.g. Python)
• Understanding of system engineering processes
