Position Description:
1. Context and Mission
We are looking for an expert who combines deep knowledge of US payroll rules with hands-on configuration experience in UKG Pro Payroll and UKG Pro Workforce Management (UKG Pro WFM / UKG Dimensions, depending on the client environment).
The main objective is to design, configure, test and stabilize end-to-end US payroll processes, from time collection in UKG Pro WFM through payroll calculation in UKG Pro Payroll. The scope includes payroll rules, UKG conditional expressions, interfaces, payroll controls and General Ledger (GL).
2. Key Responsibilities
-New company onboarding in UKG: gather business requirements, define the target design, configure UKG Pro Payroll and UKG Pro WFM, manage data conversion, opening balances / YTD balances, testing, cutover and go-live.
-US payroll rule analysis: FLSA, overtime, regular rate, exempt / non-exempt, multi-state payroll, federal taxes, state taxes, local taxes, garnishments, supplemental wages, bonuses, retro pay, final pay, taxable fringe benefits and imputed income.
-UKG Pro Payroll configuration: Business Rules, Pay Groups, Pay Calendars, Earning Codes, Deduction Codes, Employer Contributions, Tax Setup, Arrears, Off-Cycle Payroll, Retro Pay, Direct Deposit, Manual Checks, Payroll Preview, Payroll Register and gross-to-net controls.
-UKG Pro WFM configuration: Pay Rules, Work Rules, Pay Codes, Schedules, Timecards, Approvals, Exceptions, Accruals, Holidays, Shift Differentials, Meal / Break Rules, Labor Transfers, Labor Levels and Timekeeping workflows.
-UKG Pro WFM to UKG Pro Payroll mappings: maintain Pay Code to Earning Code mappings, hours / amount / rate mappings, labor allocation, cost centers, jobs, locations, pay groups and pay periods.
-UKG expressions: write, correct and test conditional expressions such as IF, nested IF, AND / OR, fallback logic, calculated fields, mapping rules and controls for null or missing values.
-Payroll General Ledger: define and validate account strings, GL segments, labor allocation, wage expense accounts, payroll tax expense accounts, liability accounts, clearing accounts, suspense accounts and GL export files.
-Troubleshooting and support: analyze UKG Pro Payroll and UKG Pro WFM issues, identify root causes, recommend configuration fixes and secure regression testing.
-Documentation and knowledge transfer: document configurations, prepare Payroll / HRIS / Finance guides, train operational teams and ensure sustainable support handover.
3. Mandatory Requirements
-Proven experience in US payroll, ideally in a multi-state, multi-entity and multi-EIN environment.
-Practical command of US payroll concepts: overtime, regular rate, supplemental wages, federal / state / local taxes, FICA, FUTA, SUTA / SUI, W-4, taxable wages, imputed income, garnishments, deductions, retro pay, W-2, quarter-end and year-end.
-Hands-on configuration experience in UKG Pro Payroll, beyond payroll processing or user support only.
-Hands-on configuration experience in UKG Pro WFM / UKG Dimensions, including Pay Rules, Work Rules, Pay Codes, Accruals, Schedules, Timecards, Exceptions, Approvals and Labor Transfers.
-Solid understanding of UKG Pro WFM to UKG Pro Payroll integrations and their impact on payroll, GL, reporting and reconciliations.
-Strong understanding of payroll GL: labor allocation, expense accounts, liability accounts, employer taxes, clearing account, suspense account, journal entries and reconciliation process.
-Ability to write, read, correct and test UKG conditional expressions with clear, maintainable and auditable logic.
-Professional English is required to work with US teams, UKG documentation, Payroll, HRIS, Finance and business stakeholders.
4. Expected UKG Technical Skills
-UKG Pro Payroll: payroll configuration, earnings / deductions / taxes, off-cycle payroll, retro pay, arrears, direct deposit, payroll preview, payroll register, audit reports and gross-to-net validation.
-UKG Pro WFM: timekeeping, pay rules, work rules, schedules, approvals, exceptions, accruals, holiday rules, shift differentials, meal / break rules and labor transfers.
-UKG expressions and reporting: calculated fields, conditional expressions, Dataviews, UKG Pro BI / People Analytics or equivalent reporting, depending on the environment.
-Integrations: flat files, SFTP, APIs, Web Services, middleware, UKG integration flows, mapping, monitoring, error logs and completeness checks.
-GL and Finance: GL export, account mapping, segment mapping, payroll journal, variance analysis, clearing / suspense reconciliation and audit trail.
5. Operational Expectations
-Ability to challenge a business rule before translating it into UKG configuration.
-Ability to connect each UKG configuration decision to its payroll, tax, GL, reporting and compliance impact.
-Produce documented tests covering standard cases, edge cases, null values, retroactivity, multi-rates, multi-states and specific employee populations.
-Anticipate payroll risks such as double counting, incorrect pay code mapping, effective dating errors, pay period mismatch, incorrect cost center, GL suspense or incomplete tax setup.
-Communicate clearly with Payroll, HRIS, Finance, IT, Legal / Compliance and US business stakeholders.
6. Nice to Have
-Knowledge of other UKG Pro modules: Benefits, Recruiting, Performance Management, Compensation Management or Onboarding.
-Experience with HR / Payroll reporting tools: UKG Pro BI, People Analytics, Cognos, Power BI or equivalent tools.
-Experience with system integration flows: APIs, Web Services, SFTP, middleware, inbound / outbound files and interface monitoring.
-Experience with implementation, migration, acquisition, carve-out, multi-company setup, year-end or payroll remediation projects.
CGI provides a reasonable estimate of the salary range for this position. The calculation of this range depends on various factors, including skill level, geographic market, experience, education, as well as professional licenses and certifications. Compensation decisions depend on the specifics of each case. A reasonable estimate of this salary range is between $70,000 and $115,000. This position is currently open.
