Your future duties and responsibilities:
We are looking for a Senior Commercial Manager to lead across two of our Sectors within CGI’s Public Safety Business Unit, delivering commitments to high profile clients, leading on complex engagements and managing the development of commercial professionals. The Senior Commercial Manager will take commercial ownership and responsibility across a portfolio of contracts under their Sectors, including commercially leading submission of tenders and negotiation of contracts during bid stages.
Take overall responsibility for the ownership of contract related matters and bids within your Sectors;
• Be the trusted advisor to the Sector leadership team on commercial matters and provide commercial strategy to support the Sector business plans;
• Help develop the Sector strategy and preferred contracting methods;
• Shape the commercial aspects of proposals by applying knowledge of best practice in the market, contracting strategies, client understanding and risk mitigation approaches;
• Demonstrate leadership and the ability to influence senior teams and project management teams in reviews, change management and dispute resolution;
• Contribute proactively, to the operation and management of the Sectors to which you are responsible, on non-commercial issues;
• Propose continuous improvement of the commercial processes and practices, and proactive sharing of best commercial practice amongst the wider community, encouraging team members to participate in continuous improvement and innovation;
• Develop and foster the relationship with Clients, including at a senior level;
• Make a valued contribution at senior level management meetings, including Client Programme Boards;
• Review and agree proposals to mitigate commercial risk in contracts and identify any further mitigations which may be appropriate;
Required qualifications to be successful in this role:
• You will have several years’ experience in an equivalent industry with a track record of having managed a variety of different bids and contracts.
• Experience in Government contracts is preferable
• You must have or be able to obtain both SC and NPPV3 clearances.
• Ideally you will have a Degree Level Education (Preferably in Legal/Business/Finance related discipline)
• A thorough understanding of contract law is essential.
• You must be calm under pressure, be able to make decisions, lead a team and positively influence.
• You must be resilient and able to manage pressurised situations and multiple pieces of work at different stages.
