Position Description:
We are seeking a Project Engineer/Business Analyst to join our CGI team in Salt Lake City, UT!
This is a full-time career opportunity in supporting a leading global client at the client site in Salt Lake City area.
Responsible for analyzing and providing project services to the lead Project Manager, and support on business review activities of the functional area in line with the company policies and procedures to achieve the team's objectives and targeted plan.
The key project services delivered by the role include:
• Development of project cost estimates and integrated project schedules
• Monitoring and controlling activities during the execution of the project stage
• Cost and schedule forecasting and reporting in conformance with the company guidance notes and project procedures.
• Ensures the project controls requirements are embedded in commercial documents
• Develops project controls guidance notes, procedures, tools, templates, and best practices to implement projects, as required
Your future duties and responsibilities:
How you'll make an impact
• Gather and analyze business requirements from internal stakeholders, for scopes of work
• Technical writing and reviewing of project paperwork
• Assist project manager with tracking and scoping of project tasks including (schedules, budgets, risks, and deliverables)
• Assist with creation of presentations and supporting data for presentations for leaders and stakeholders
• HSE Management: Maintains HSE focus within the team to ensure HSE requirements included in design and procurement. Demonstrating full commitment to all health and safety matters and provides safety leadership to project team. Conduct regular, planned reviews of HSEC risks. Stop work if an appropriate control is not in place or working properly.
• Stakeholder Relationships: Maintains and builds healthy client relationships. Proactively resolves performance, scope, and schedule issues with the stakeholder as they arise. Identifies, documents, communicates, and meets the Stakeholder requirement.
• Commercial Management: Effectively manages assigned budgets within Projects total scope.
• Scope Management: Compliance with requirements of the contract. Effective change control process application Making independent decisions involving multiple, complex functions based on established guidelines, considering the cost, quality, and schedule impact to the project. Working with self-initiated interaction with supervisor and self-initiated technical guidance. Work is assigned in terms of objectives, relative priorities, and critical areas. Work is reviewed to ensure project, policy conformity and soundness of approach. Informed guidance is available. Assigning project work and giving technical guidance to people assigned to work on their projects.
• Time Management: Contributes to the development of overall project schedule. Supervises work in accordance with the approved schedule.
• Cost Control: Monitors cost aspects of the project within direct control to forecast final costs, identifies trends and takes action to avoid cost overruns.
• Quality Management: Contributes to compliance with company’s policies and procedures. Strong working knowledge of engineering and procurement systems and procedures.
• Team Management: Focuses team on achievement of milestones and other key project objectives. Listens to the team, discusses the issues, resolves problems, and directs activities to remove roadblocks and achieve objectives. Setting clear objectives for the project team including scope, schedule, productivity, and budget targets. Keeping team members informed about project status and key performance indicators. Overseeing, motivating, and monitoring the performance of the team, ensuring quality and timeliness of assignments and roles, and addresses any performance gaps. Appling knowledge of all aspects of project engineering to oversee successful technical coordination. Managing execution, coordination, and implements regular reviews/controls to track project progress. Ensuring project schedules and resource plans are developed and utilized in managing the project tasks. Translating contract requirements for project scope, services, and deliverables Understands the stakeholders key drivers and objectives, establishes good working relationship with technical counterpart. Establishing relationships with external vendors and suppliers. Developing a customer relationship of trust and respect with ability to discuss project progress, challenges, and issues in a transparent manner.
• Communications Management Regularly provides clear reports to Management. Effective communication with the design team and third parties. Accurate, timely and effective reporting to the Project Manager
• Risk Management: Monitors the closure of all identified risks and opportunities.
• Procurement/Subcontracts Management:
Assesses procurement processes throughout the project to ensure goods meet specification, are delivered on time and are within budget
Required qualifications to be successful in this role:
What you'll bring
• Bachelors in engineering, Business Management or Project Management or relevant discipline.
• At least 3 years’ relevant experience, or otherwise significant practical experience and on the job training.
• Experience with IT Infrastructure projects.
• Job experience in mining or other industrial industry is strongly preferred, due to the HSE and risk relevancy of the role. Going underground for site visit is a requirement
• Ability to cultivate, manage and develop positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Highly developed written and verbal interpersonal and communication skills including facilitation and presentation capabilities.

To support the ability to reward for merit-based performance, CGI typically does not hire individuals at or near the top of the range for their role. Compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range for this role in the U.S. is $60,300 - $105,500.”
