Position Description:
PowerBuilder Developer / Lead Location: hybrid, 4 days per week in Hamilton.
Overview:
We are seeking an experienced PowerBuilder Developer / Lead to support a transformation initiative involving integration with SAP-driven data services. The role focuses on adapting existing PowerBuilder applications to consume new data objects provided by SAP while preserving the current PowerBuilder architecture, particularly DataWindow-based functionality.
This is a hands-on role requiring strong development expertise, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work closely with business and integration teams throughout the project lifecycle.
Your future duties and responsibilities:
Key Responsibilities
. Analyze existing PowerBuilder applications and DataWindow objects to understand current data structures and business logic
. Refactor and enhance applications to consume new SAP-provided data objects (replacing legacy data sources)
. Modify and optimize DataWindow objects to align with new backend data structures
. Ensure minimal disruption to existing application behavior while implementing backend changes
. Participate in integration design discussions with SAP and data migration teams
. Support System Integration Testing (SIT) and User Acceptance Testing (UAT), including defect analysis and resolution
. Collaborate with business stakeholders to clarify requirements and validate functional outcomes
. Lead development activities, provide technical guidance, and ensure coding best practices
. Troubleshoot and resolve data mapping, performance, and compatibility issues
. Document technical design, changes, and implementation details
Required qualifications to be successful in this role:

. Strong PowerBuilder development and troubleshooting expertise.
. Solid understanding of relational databases and SQL.
. Experience in application development.
. Knowledge of change management processes (ITIL or equivalent).
. Participate in regular project meetings with stakeholders and end users
. Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams (SAP, data migration, QA)
. Provide timely updates on development progress, risks, and issues
. Be available to support critical testing phases and go-live activities

Education
. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems (MIS), or a related discipline; or an equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience.
Must Have:
. Hands-on experience with PowerBuilder 2017 or later, including PowerScript, DataWindows, UserObjects, and Reporting.
. Strong working knowledge of relational databases such as Oracle, with proficiency in PL/SQL and Stored Procedures.
. Practical experience with scripting languages such as Batch, VBScript, and Shell scripting.
. Familiarity with source control systems such as Git or SVN.
CGI is providing a reasonable estimate of the pay range for this role. The determination of this range includes various factors including but not limited to skill set level, geographic market, experience and training, and licenses and certifications. Compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $55.29/hour - $79.33/hour. This Role is an existing vacancy.
