Lead Software Tester

Job description
Position Description:
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Lead Software Tester to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the quality and reliability of our software products through comprehensive and highly-automated testing. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to develop and execute test plans, identify and resolve issues, and contribute to the continuous improvement of our testing processes.
This role is hybrid and requires you to be in the Markham office 3 times per week - subject to change at any time.
Your future duties and responsibilities:
• Own the roadmap and architecture of our test automation approach and test suites for our software products.
• Collaborate with development, product, and operations teams to understand requirements and ensure comprehensive test coverage.
• Identify, document, and track software defects and work with developers to resolve them.
• Lead by example - write reference code and pair with the development team.
• Perform code reviews and provide feedback to ensure high-quality, testable code.
• Mentor and guide junior engineers in best practices for testing and automation.
• Continuously improve testing processes and methodologies to enhance product quality and team efficiency.
Required qualifications to be successful in this role:
• 5+ years of experience in software testing and automation.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, or JavaScript.
• Experience with test automation tools and frameworks (e.g., Selenium, Playwright, Cypress, JUnit, TestNG, Wiremock).
• Experience and strong understanding of executable specification and behavior driven specification.
• Strong understanding of different types of testing, and their scope and characteristics - Smoke tests, API Testing, UI Testing, Pen Testing, etc.
• Strong understanding of software development life cycle (SDLC) and modern declarative CI/CD
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Strong communication and collaboration skills
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience with performance and load testing tools (e.g., JMeter, LoadRunner).
• Familiarity with modern declarative CI/CD pipelines and tools (e.g., Azure DevOps, GitLab CI).
• Knowledge of cloud platforms and services (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
• Experience with containerization and orchestration tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes
