Job Description: Azure AVD Level 3 Support Engineer (with Migration Experience)
Role Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) Level 3 Support Engineer with strong expertise in end‑to‑end AVD operations, troubleshooting, and migration projects. The ideal candidate will play a key role in managing complex incidents, driving root cause analysis, handling advanced configurations, and leading AVD migration/modernization initiatives.

Your future duties and responsibilities:

AVD Operations & Level 3 Support
Provide L3 support for Azure Virtual Desktop environments, addressing escalated issues from L1/L2 teams.
Perform advanced troubleshooting of:
AVD session hosts & host pools
FSLogix profile issues
Azure AD/Intune integration
Networking, connectivity & performance issues
MSIX app attach failures
Analyze event logs, diagnostic logs, network traces, and Azure Monitor insights for RCA.
Optimize AVD environment performance, scaling, and cost efficiency.
Migration & Implementation
Lead migration projects from:
On‑prem VDI (Citrix/VMware Horizon/RDS) to AVD
Windows 10 multi-session migrations
FSLogix profile migrations
Conduct environment assessments, capacity planning, and architecture design.
Implement golden image creation, automation, and hardening.
Collaborate with project teams to deliver successful cutovers and post‑migration support.
Engineering & Automation
Develop scripts using PowerShell for automation, monitoring, and maintenance activities.
Work with Azure DevOps pipelines for AVD deployment automation.
Implement governance, RBAC, and policy-driven management.
Monitoring & Optimization
Utilize Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and AVD Insights for proactive monitoring.
Identify performance bottlenecks and recommend improvements.
Ensure compliance, security, and best practices across the AVD ecosystem.
Collaboration & Documentation
Work closely with security, networking, identity, and application teams.
Maintain detailed documentation of architectures, SOPs, runbooks, and RCA reports.
Mentor L1/L2 engineers and provide knowledge-transfer sessions.
Required Skills & Experience
Technical Expertise
5–8+ years in EUC/VDI technologies and at least 3+ years in Azure AVD.
Deep knowledge of:
Azure Virtual Desktop architecture
Azure AD, Azure Networking, Intune
FSLogix profiles, Cloud Cache
MSIX app attach
Azure Image Builder / Golden image management
Strong PowerShell scripting skills.
Experience with monitoring tools (Azure Monitor, Sentinel, Log Analytics).
Migration Experience
Proven experience migrating from:
On‑prem VDI to Azure AVD
RDS to AVD
Windows 10/11 profiles to FSLogix
Strong understanding of identity, SSO, MFA, and hybrid AD scenarios.
Soft Skills
Excellent troubleshooting & analytical skills.
Strong communication with customer-facing experience.
Ability to lead technical discussions and handle critical incidents.
Preferred Certifications
Microsoft AZ‑104 (Azure Administrator)
AZ‑305 (Azure Architect)
AZ‑140 (Configuring & Operating Azure Virtual Desktop)
MS‑102 / MD‑102 (Endpoint Admin)
