Education Qualification: Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field or higher with minimum 2 years of relevant experience.

A motivated and detail-oriented **Junior Functional Payment Designer** with a strong interest in building and supporting modern payment solutions. The ideal candidate is eager to learn, has a foundational understanding of the payments domain, and demonstrates the ability to translate business requirements into clear functional designs under guidance from senior team members.
This role provides an opportunity to work closely with **business, product, UX, analytics, and engineering teams**, gaining hands-on exposure to real-world payment systems and modern distributed architectures. The candidate will support functional design activities, documentation, and validation efforts while developing expertise in payments, microservices-based platforms, and event-driven systems.

Your future duties and responsibilities:

Support senior designers in **analyzing business requirements** and preparing functional artifacts
* Assist in **message and data mapping** for payment flows
* Participate in **functional walkthroughs, reviews, and validations**
* Support **FAT/UAT activities**, defect analysis, and clarifications
* Contribute to **Agile ceremonies** such as backlog grooming and sprint planning
* Continuously learn payment schemes, system architecture, and best practices

Required qualifications to be successful in this role:

Must-Have Skills:
General / Functional Skills

* Experience or exposure to **product or project development** in a functional or business analysis role
* Basic to intermediate knowledge of **functional design and requirement decomposition**
* Familiarity with **UML concepts** (sequence diagrams, component diagrams, activity flows); exposure to **Sparx Enterprise Architect** is a plus
* Ability to understand and document **business requirements** with guidance from senior designers
* Exposure to:
* Requirement elicitation
* Gap & impact analysis
* Message and data mapping
* Functional and FAT/UAT support
* Experience in preparing **functional documents** such as BRDs, functional specifications, process flows, and user stories
* Good **written and verbal communication skills**
* Willingness to interact with clients and stakeholders under supervision
* Basic understanding of **software development concepts**, including:
* APIs and interfaces
* Databases and data models
* Application servers and middleware
* Integration patterns
* Understanding of the **Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)**
* Awareness of **Agile methodologies** (Scrum/Kanban)
## Payments Domain Knowledge
* Exposure to or academic/early professional experience in **payments or banking systems**
* Basic understanding of payment concepts such as:
* Payment initiation, validation, clearing, and settlement
* Payment security and transaction lifecycle
* Awareness or limited hands-on experience with one or more payment schemes:
* **SWIFT / SWIFT GPI**
* **NACHA / ACH**
* **CHAPS**
* Exposure to clearing and settlement systems in **any one geography** (Europe, US, or Canada) is a plus
* Experience supporting payment-related implementations or testing activities in banks or financial institutions is desirable

## Architecture & Technology Exposure (Learning-Focused)

* Basic understanding or hands-on exposure to **Microservices Architecture**, including:
* Concept of loosely coupled services
* RESTful APIs and service communication
* Introductory knowledge of **event-driven systems** using **Apache Kafka**:
* Understanding of producers, consumers, and topics
* Awareness of how Kafka is used in payment processing
* Introductory or working exposure to **Hazelcast or similar in-memory data grid/cache** solutions:
* Basic caching concepts
* Session or state management awareness
* Ability to collaborate with engineering teams and learn how functional requirements map to technical designs

Good-to-Have Skills:
* Exposure to **SWIFT Service Bureau** environments
* Familiarity with payment products such as **Fundtech** or **Clear2Pay**
* Basic awareness of **DevOps and CI/CD concepts**
* Certification or coursework in **banking, payments, or business analysis**
* Strong curiosity, learning min
