Working in a High-Performance Computing (HPC) Data Centre, the Logistics & Maintenance Assistant will be working as part of the Logistics team to ensure that all shipments are processed in compliance with Government and company procedures and fulfil all operational standards. Additionally, the role will support the Facilities team with various ad-hoc tasks. The role requires delivering exceptional service to all clients and departments across all parts of the business.
Key Responsibilities
Logistics
* Reception and registration of incoming data and packages in accordance with established procedures.
* Packaging and arranging shipments globally, ensuring they comply with trade regulations as mandated by both Viridien and Government agencies, which includes the correct declaration of HS codes, adherence to appropriate tariffs, and compliance with export licensing controls.
* Process and create all paperwork for import/export of goods nationally and globally, understanding clients' needs.
* Accurate logging of information in all internal databases adhering to the established procedures
* Maintain control over the input and output flows of tapes at all times.
* Collaborate with third-party logistics providers (3PL) to streamline operations
* Meticulous record-keeping through import/export logs to ensure compliance.
* Purchasing responsibilities and stock control
* Training should be undertaken as requested by the team leader, and any specific training needs to perform the job effectively should be communicated.
* Ensure the loading bay and logistics area is always kept clean and tidy
* Perform all other duties as assigned by Team Leader
Site Maintenance
- Undertake all assigned maintenance jobs that are logged internally, including but not limited to, basic labourer duties, small paint jobs, tightening hinges, install/ repair blinds, changing locks, making minor repairs to cabinets, desks and putting together small equipment such as chairs.
- Ensuring feedback is provided on progress of maintenance jobs
- Ensure all personnel and contractors that may be working in hazardous areas take all safety measures to prevent danger, avoid injury and prevent damage to equipment
- Use all relevant tools and equipment within safety guidelines as necessary for the completion of works
- Carry out risk assessments for ad-hoc activities and monitor of day-to-day implementation of safe working procedures and safe systems of work
- Perform all other duties as assigned by Team Leaders
Key Skills & and Experience
- UK & International shipping background, including import & export processes
- Passion to develop in depth knowledge and skills within Logistics or Facilities
- Experience with tape-based media preferred, and ability to adhere to defined cataloguing protocols
- Proactive, self-motivated, and driven to succeed in a busy environment
- Flexible and adaptable to work in a busy environment, and have strong problem-solving skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication, and be able to develop and maintain professional relationships with clients, suppliers, and internal departments
- Strong organisation, time management and administration skills, as well as multi-tasking, prioritising and meeting deadlines
- Good computer literacy, highly proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
- Forklift licence preferred, although full training would be provided
- Due to office location, a full UK driving license and own transport is essential
