Missions :

Your Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Piping & Layout Group Manager, you will be the key reference for piping stress analysis, ensuring the integrity and compliance of piping systems.

Your main tasks will include:

  • Supervising and managing subcontracted stress studies:
    • Preparing technical packages with all necessary inputs for subcontractors.
    • Coordinating subcontracted work, responding to technical queries, and ensuring alignment with project specifications.
    • Reviewing, validating, and approving subcontracted piping stress analyses, ensuring compliance with applicable standards and project requirements.
  • Conducting stress analysis studies at key project stages, particularly during proposals, to assess feasibility, risks, and preliminary design constraints.
  • Verifying critical piping systems, ensuring compliance with applicable codes (ASME B31.3, API 610, API 661, PED, etc.).
  • Conducting coil stress analysis for heaters and reformers, ensuring integrity under thermal and mechanical loads.
  • Preparing stress specifications, critical line lists, and technical documentation.
  • Ensuring compliance with industry codes (ASME B31.3, API 610, API 661, PED, NEMA standards etc.).
  • Verifying equipment nozzle loads (compressors, pumps, heat exchangers, tanks, etc.).
  • Issuing pipe support loads and coordinating with structural teams.
  • Reviewing modular piping stress analysis, including transportation and lifting constraints.
  • Preparing technical requisitions and evaluating bids for special pipe supports (springs, snubbers, sway braces, etc.).
  • Conducting field inspections to assess installed piping systems and recommend improvements.

Additional Responsibilities as Piping Coordinator:

While your primary role is piping stress engineering, you will also act as a Piping Coordinator when workload allows, particularly when stress activities are subcontracted. This will include:

  • Coordinating the piping activity within projects, ensuring proper integration with other disciplines.
  • Being the main interface between piping, project managers, and other disciplines.
  • Contributing to layout optimization and ensuring compliance with design constraints.
  • Ensuring that rules related to Health, Safety, and Environment policy deployed within the company are respected

Availability for international business trips.

Desired profile

Knowledge and Required Level :

· Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering (or equivalent).

· Around 10 years in piping stress engineering, including modular projects and coil stress analysis for heaters and reformers.

· Fluent French is required (as the position is based in France).

· Proficiency in English is also necessary for technical documentation and international coordination.

Technical Skills:

· Expertise in stress analysis software (CAESAR II, FE-Pipe).

· Knowledge of 3D review tools (Navisworks, E3D).

· Strong understanding of piping materials, layouts, and support systems.

· Experience in finite element analysis (FEA), dynamic analysis, and seismic design.

Associated Skills

· Strong leadership, coordination, and problem-solving abilities.

· Ability to work independently and within a multidisciplinary team.

· Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

· Ability to manage subcontractors efficiently.

The Business Division Project Operations specializes in the design and supply of process furnaces and modular units for our customers' refineries and petrochemical sites. Within this Business division is carried out the execution of the products, from design to start-up at customers. The Engineering department is responsible for engineering studies on these projects as well as technical support for the development of new equipment sold by the company.
