Job description

Context:

The Project Operations Business Division (POP) mission is to provide advanced technologies, basic engineering design, modular units design and technical services to its customers.

We are looking for a Mechanical Process Engineer for the POP Process Department. In the Process Department we work on basic engineering projects and Modular Units Projects development for our customers but also on new technologies development.

Assigned to projects involving different technologies (refining, petrochemicals, biofuels and renewables) within the Process Group, you will be involved into international projects and quickly supervising the design of Axens process units.

Your main activities will be:

  • Calculation, mechanical and hydrodynamic sizing of equipment
  • Participation in the development of process books in conceiving the flow scheme, simulating the unit, developing the P&IDs and mechanical drawings.Preparation of equipment specifications
  • Optimize process schemes in terms of recovery, energy efficiency and costs
  • Participation in technical project meetings (project launches, PFD reviews, mechanical design reviews, PID reviews, 3D Model reviews, HAZOP)
  • Technical support to the team in charge of the equipment supply project
  • Supervision and technical support to the drafting teams (schematic and mechanical)
  • Maintenance and development of process and mechanical tools
  • Projects follow-up with D.E.C / E.P.C including engineering documents review
  • Cooperative work with Axens Technology and Start-up departments to improve our processes
  • articipation in research and development work in collaboration with Axens New Development & Transformation Business Division as well as IFPEN.
  • Supporting customers for commissioning and start up as well as troubleshooting
  • Contribution to integrate site feedbacks in order to continuously improve units designs

Desired profile

Knowledge and Level Required:

  • Degree in mechanical engineering
  • You have at least 3 years' experience in a process industry: in the petrochemical or refining industry or engineering company
  • You have a solid background in mechanical design (mechanical drawings, mechanical calculation) and fluid mechanics as well as some comprehension of heat transfer
  • Knowledge of Process Flow Diagrams and Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams would be a plus
  • Fluent in English is required (written and spoken), French would be appreciated
  • Knowledge of mathematical calculation and programming language (VBA) would be a plus.
