POSITION SUMMARY
On an international scope comprising 12 insurance entities, the Underwriting Risks Management Department is in charge of developing and promoting within the IPA SA and AXA Assistance Groups all the methods in underwriting and actuarial works contributing, as a second line of defense, the establishment of a risk management system that identifies, measures, controls and mitigates the underwriting risks to which IPA SA and AXA Assistance are exposed.

KEY RESPONSABILITIES
Missions of the Department:

  • In general, participate in all Group projects incorporating an underwriting dimension;
  • Review the deals that enter into its scope in regards to the existing criteria (materiality, derogations)
  • Help to ensure and follow up that all deals that should be escalated in UW central governance are indeed;
  • Active preparation to the Deal Referral Committees, including the minutes and follow up of decisions;
  • Participation to review UW Guidelines and policies;
  • Support to the management/monitoring of the profitability of the deals;
  • Establish and disseminate consistent pricing methods and tools to all entities;

Job main missions:

  • Build the Risk Management Opinions on all the technical and underwriting topics (pricing but also underwriting, performance reporting, governance and product approval processes)
  • As a second line, follow up actively and contribute to an efficient monitoring of the performance of our portfolio, in close links with central underwriting (including active participation to review UW guidelines, to assist CRO for the Deal Referral Committee)
  • Improve pricing methodologies (promoting GLM, segmentation approach) and drive back testing analysis on assumptions used for pricing (frequency, average costs, internal costs)
  • In general, actively participate in all Group projects presenting an underwriting part
  • Point of contact and coordination between AXA Group, AXA Partners and AXA Assistance central UW functions, and also all underwriters and sales direction from local and regional organization.

Desired profile

Qualifications :

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
Higher education in economic/mathematics (Being a qualified actuary is a plus).
At least 2 years’ experience in a similar position.

Technical/Hard skills:

·  Know Pricing Methods and P&C environment (Assistance would be a plus)
·  Know the professional environment of its field of activity (content of products and guarantees, subscription process ...).
·  English essential (read, written, spoken); Knowledge of French is a plus.
·  To master the office tools and in particular Excel and Access.
·  Knowledge of R language/software or Python is a plus.

Social/Soft skills:

·  Know how to work in a team.
·  Advising both the entities IPA SA and AXA Assistance proactively and reactively on the UW issues that may arise.
·  Know how to communicate and argue technical information.
·  Know how to anticipate technical issues and propose solutions.
·  To be able to show a curious and independent spirit.
·  Have a good ability to adapt.
·  Have an open mind and be comfortable in a multicultural environment.
·  Know how to work in "remote mode": Although the team is based in Brussels, the candidate may be geographically located in another place;
·  He / She will however have to plan 4 to 6 trips to Brussels in the year in order to be able to work directly with the members of the team.
