As an Operations Support Manager, you will help lead and manage the day-to-day Transport and Warehouse Operations teams, ensuring products are delivered to our customers in a safe and efficient manner, at the right time, in the right quantity, quality and cost.
Your leadership style will promote an inclusive culture, leading to high levels of trust which drives a high performing team whilst also meeting legal, KPI and budgetary targets.
What you’ll need to do:
- Provide genuine and authentic leadership for the Operations teams, including Transport and Warehouse
- Support the Operations Manager in all aspects of the site
- Day-to-day people management and engagement, as well as talent spotting, driving development and succession planning
- Ensure the ‘customer’ is at the centre of decision-making
- Work collaboratively with other Depots/Stores/Teams across the business to get the best possible results, sharing knowledge and best practice
- Influence, manage and maintain internal and external relationships across a variety of stakeholders, including Union partnerships
- Identify Operational efficiencies and lead continuous improvement initiatives, implementing solutions effectively
- Day to day risk management and compliance, operating within legislation, policy and process in all matters ranging from people management to safety, health and environment
- Work with the senior leadership team to identify opportunities for further operational optimisation.
More about you:
- You’ll have a strong Transport operational background
- You’ll know the end-to-end process of the Transport and Warehouse operations and understand your part in driving its success
- You need to have a detailed understanding of the relevant legislation, policy and process in all matters relating to your working location and be able to apply this, including Health & Safety, Trade Union legislation and Employment Law i.e., working time directive for Warehouse and Transport colleagues, driving hours legislation
- You’re able to make decisions and judgement calls independently without cross-checking or consulting
- You have a positive approach in leading change and are effective in dealing with resistance
- Your’e able to build strong collaborative working relationships and communicate clearly with internal and external stakeholders across a variety of levels with the confidence to challenge and influence
- Ability to lead, engage and inspire others in order to deliver successful results
- Confident in making critical time-pressured decisions in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment, with consideration of the audience and the potential impact
- An awareness of working in a highly Unionised environment and an understanding of the importance of building positive and mutually beneficial relationships with these key stakeholders
