What you'll do

In this role at Sainsbury's, you will be accountable for providing the completion of various HMRC Customs & Excise declarations, ensuring legal compliance with HMRC Customs & Excise regulations. Your responsibilities will include completing relevant Customs & Excise returns, conducting compliance checks on HMRC declarations, creating monthly worksheets, and supporting the business with HTS Code classifications. You will also handle day-to-day queries from customs agents and internal stakeholders, provide support in delivering Customs & Excise training, and work collaboratively with the team to maintain high standards of delivery. Your attention to detail, proactive mindset, and commitment to regulatory deadlines will be crucial in this role, as well as your ability to effectively communicate and demonstrate the core culture and values of Sainsbury's.

Who you are

As a Customs & Excise Specialist at Sainsbury's, you are a highly motivated and detail-oriented professional with a strong understanding of Customs & Excise processes and regulatory tax returns. With your practical experience and awareness of the wider tax implications, you ensure the completion of HMRC Customs & Excise declarations and assist the business in maintaining legal compliance. Your diligence, attention to detail, and commitment to regulatory deadlines enable you to handle compliance checks, validate HTS code classifications, and provide support to internal colleagues and customs agents. You are a self-motivated and proactive individual who thrives in a collaborative team environment, consistently delivering high-quality work. As a diligent communicator and dedicated follower of Sainsbury's culture and values, you contribute to the overall success of the team and the organisation. Along with competitive compensation, you have access to a range of learning and development opportunities, a bonus scheme, holiday allowance, pension, and staff discounts at Sainsbury's, Argos, and Habitat.

Here are some of them:
