We are looking for a (Senior) Actuarial Expert, based in Munich.
Your Team
The short tail reserving team is responsible for ensuring adequate level of loss provisions for the relevant lines of business. We perform an in-depth analysis across different markets and regions.
Our insights inform decision-making throughout the organization, including strategic business direction.
The Impact You Will Have
We are seeking a (Senior) Actuarial Expert to serve as deputy to the Head of Short Tail Lines Reserving, responsible for managing projects independently while performing comprehensive actuarial analysis. The Expert will prepare data, update models, and document assumptions, methods, and results. They will steer discussions with key stakeholders and maintain strong connections to related functions within CFO ACT teams and Group Actuarial. This independent professional will ensure work products are thoroughly reviewed and effectively communicated, while also guiding analysts in their development.
Some of your specific responsibilities could include:
Support team leader in steering actuarial results for assigned Lines of Business, ensuring transparency on P&L impacts and providing timely support to various stakeholders
Execute and document advanced actuarial analyses to understand profitability trends, update loss provisions, and prepare high-quality reports with effective presentation skills
Promote collaboration with business areas (Allianz Group, UWPPM, Claims, etc.) as key contact person for selected lines of business, acting as an actuarial ambassador
Drive innovation and efficiency in processes to improve reserve review quality and understanding of quarterly/monthly impacts
Develop global actuarial approaches and enhance models while staying current with leading market practices
Act as deputy team leader when required, providing leadership continuity, mentoring team members, and taking ownership of ad hoc projects
What You’ll Bring to the Role
Qualification, preferably in Mathematics, Statistics or other appropriate discipline or qualified by experience in related discipline
Qualified Actuary (e.g. Fellow of CAS, IFoA, or another recognized actuarial org)
Excellent actuarial knowledge (data, claims, underwriting, reinsurance, pricing) as well as finance and insurance know-how
Strong knowledge in actuarial reserving and accounting
Excellent quantitative financial and risk modeling skills (i.e. data analysis)
Advanced computer skills, particularly MS Office and ResQ
Skills in R programming and/or Python programming would be very beneficial
Experience in applying artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) to improve business processes and decision-making is highly beneficial.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail
Proven intercultural skills with an ability to work in an international and remote working environment
Intellectual curiosity in order to keep abreast of leading market practice and drive innovation
Fluent English skills required
