We are looking for an Associate Graduate Underwriter to join our Property Team.  This is a 12 month Program for recent University Graduates and will start in July 2026. 

This will be a hybrid role based in Toronto, Canada.

The Impact You Will Have 

As an Associate Graduate Underwriter at Allianz, you'll play a vital role in our underwriting process, contributing to both our top and bottom line targets. You'll help maintain strong relationships with brokers and clients while ensuring compliance with our underwriting standards. Your work will directly support our business growth through new client acquisition and existing client retention.

 

Some of Your Specific Responsibilities Could Include 

  • Underwriting new and renewal accounts within your predefined authority 

  • Participating in the acquisition of new business and retention of existing clients 

  • Preparing relevant underwriting information through client/market research and claims data 

  • Assisting in risk pricing using global tools and evaluating Natural Catastrophe Accumulation 

  • Ensuring underwriting compliance with governance frameworks and achieving contract certainty 

  • Establishing and maintaining accurate policy files and documentation 

  • Supporting administration of International Insurance Programs 

  • Managing policy premium bookings and working with other functions to resolve account queries 

  • Representing Allianz positively in the market and developing relationships with key stakeholders 

  • Collaborating with internal functional areas in the underwriting process 

 

What You'll Bring to the Role 

  • Bachelor's degree preferably in Economics, Law, or other appropriate discipline 

  • Minimum 1-3 years of experience with basic understanding of insurance products and portfolio 

  • Progress towards professional insurance qualification (e.g., CII) 

  • Basic understanding of regional/local insurance markets and competitor landscape 

  • Strong communication and influencing skills 

  • Analytical ability to process information and draw appropriate conclusions 

  • Experience building relationships with brokers at peer group level 

  • Fluency in local language 

  • Ability to work effectively in a complex, global matrix organization 

  • Customer focus and results orientation 

  • Entrepreneurial mindset and strategic thinking

This job pays a salary $83,500 per year. The annual base salary range represents a nationwide market range. The actual salary for this position may be above and will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role, the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate. The base pay is just one component of the AzC total compensation package.  As part of our comprehensive compensation and highly rated benefits programs, employees are also eligible for annual performance-based cash incentive awards.
