Medical Underwriter

• Key Responsibilities
• Assist in reviewing and processing new business applications according to underwriting guidelines and service level agreements.
• Support the team in maintaining accurate records and documentation of underwriting decisions.
• Respond to routine underwriting inquiries from internal teams and cedants via email and phone.
• Monitor daily workload and escalate complex cases to senior underwriters or management as appropriate.
• Contribute to preparing weekly productivity reports and data tracking.
• Collaborate with Claims, Legal, and Client Relations teams to provide underwriting input on standard cases.
• Stay informed about underwriting procedures and DHA compliance requirements.
• Participate in departmental meetings and training sessions to remain aligned with process updates.
• Assist in implementing new workflows and system enhancements under senior staff guidance.
• Ensure a high level of customer service and professionalism in all interactions.

What you bring

Key Requirements

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) and other standard business software.
• Minimum 1–2 years’ experience in a Medical Underwriting or Claims/Medical Services role (Life, Disability, Critical Illness, or Health Insurance).
• Basic understanding of medical terminology and insurance principles.
• Experience with automated underwriting tools is an advantage.
• Strong communication skills (verbal and written).
• Customer-focused with a collaborative mindset.
• Ability to manage time effectively and prioritize tasks.
• Attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
• Integrity and professionalism in handling sensitive information.
