Job Purpose/ Role:
The Business Development Executive (BDE) – Retail is a key role in Allianz Ireland’s Sales and Distribution area with responsibility for strategic account management of key partners and product portfolios across our intermediated Retail business in the Republic of Ireland.
The BDE maximises customer growth and retention and, guided by local strategy, delivers optimal outcomes for our distribution partners and their target customers, by working closely with a range of experts across Allianz Ireland.
They balance Allianz Ireland’s objectives of profitable and sustainable growth alongside the commercial expectations of our distribution partners’ across bancassurance, affinity and retail broker channels. In addition, they proactively manage the senior stakeholder relationships with our partners.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage designated accounts and product portfolios to drive profitable growth, through collaboration with key partners and internal stakeholders (Underwriting, Actuarial, Operations)
- Support the overall implementation of local strategy for intermediated Retail business, deliver against targets for GWP value and policy count, while ensuring profitability objectives are met
- Seek out new retail product distribution opportunities for Allianz with existing or potential intermediary partners
- Coordinate responses to market tenders for potential and existing distribution partners, working closely with colleagues in Pricing and Underwriting to develop business cases and successful outcomes.
- Manage marketing budgets of key accounts and lead annual budgeting and corporate planning processes for assigned relationships.
- Collaborate with key partners and internal stakeholders to rollout any Voice of Customer solutions for key customer and partner touchpoints, with the objective of both understanding and improving key partner and end Customer Journeys
- Share market information and insights with key partners, adding value to the product and customer value proposition where appropriate.
- Produce business development programme for branch networks of key accounts as required, which will be delivered by the Customer Relationship Executives (CREs)
- Collaborate with the Customer Relationship Coordinator (CRC) in the delivery of partner education, events, and business development programmes.
- Develop and maintain excellent working relationships with key partners based on shared business objectives, trust, and open dialogue.
- Collaborate with the Marketing team to support profitable growth of key partner portfolios by devising, tracking and refining new business and retention campaigns through the use of data insights and analytics
- Support key partners in realising their digitalisation objectives by working closely with them as well as Marketing, Product Management, Portfolio Underwriting and Pricing e.g. broker and bank platform integrations, digital sales platform enhancement.
- Understand and communicate effectively to key partners the Allianz approach to pricing and management of profitability
- Ensure effective collaboration with Underwriting and Actuarial colleagues regarding profitability, rate management, product and risk appetite for key accounts and product portfolios
- Share knowledge and technical expertise with CREs and across the organisation as relevant, support a culture of multi-channel/multi-product knowledge across the CRE group in particular
- Support the Customer Relationship Manager – Retail, in driving and delivering strategic and operational goals
Required Experience and Qualifications
Essential Criteria
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in General Insurance
- Demonstrated experience of cross functional stakeholder management
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in Sales and Customer Relationship Management within a Sales and distribution function
- Knowledge and understanding of personal lines products and/or portfolio management
Desirable Criteria
- Demonstrated understanding of customer behaviour, product and proposition development and customer insights and analytics
- Familiarity with the local regulatory context and requirements for relevant jurisdictions
- APA, CIP, Dip CII, Grandfathered or ACII
- Relevant third level or postgraduate degree
