Description of the job
A vacancy for a Translator (French to English) has arisen within Airbus Defence & Space - Secure Land Communication (SLC) in Elancourt. You will join Documentation and Translation services department.
Secure Land Communications (SLC) offers advanced communication and collaboration solutions enabling its customers to gather, process and deploy intelligence. You are part of the Documentation and Translation services and are responsible for SLC documentation translation (technical, marketing, internal or external communication), as well as for other department’s specific documentation translation. You are completely integrated in a team of technical writers and Desktop Publishing (DTP) experts in France and in Finland.
This position will require a security clearance or will require being eligible for clearance by the recognized authorities.
Tasks & accountabilities
Your main tasks and responsibilities will include:
• Translate technical, communication, marketing and HR documents from French to English, and/or proofread English documents,
• Manage contracted translation work,
• Use translation tools (SDL TRADOS) on a routine basis to perform translation work and enrich translation memories in order to optimize productivity and quality,
• Ensure that the translations of requested documents are consistent in terminology, syntax and style,
• You will keep track of your own workload by issuing a weekly status report and alerting the Department Head of any job-related issues.

Required skills
You will have the following skills and experience:
• Master’s degree or higher education in translation,
• Minimum 5 years of experience in translation from French to English,
• Familiar with Microsoft Office 2010 and SDL Trados,
• Knowledge of InDesign, FrameMaker and Sharepoint would be a plus,
• Excellent interpersonal skills (able to interact with a wide variety of people within the organisation, ranging from colleagues within the team (technical writers, DTP experts) to customers,
• Ability to work directly with all the customers of the Translation Department on a regular basis concerning translation management issues, deadline negotiations, and to clarify the document content,
• Ability to handle multiple and complex documents in a timely manner,
• Ability to work in an Agile environment,
• Ability to produce high-quality work under tight deadlines,
• Quick, versatile, meticulous, curious, responsive and completely autonomous,
• Language Skills: negotiation level of both English and French; knowledge of German would be a plus.
