The recent announcement of a £3.9bn joint investment by industry and the government for aerospace research requires a significant level of planning and management to meet all the stakeholders' expectations. Airbus has recently launched its 'Wing of the Future' programme which is the overarching research programme for Airbus in the UK for the next 10 years, making this an extraordinarily exciting time. The Research & Technology business development and partnership team has the responsibility to manage the external relationships with Government, funding authorities, the Aerospace Technology Institute (ATI) and strategic partners. The successful Intern will be a key member of this team during a high workload period.

Desired profile

Tasks & accountabilities

Support liaison with the Government Affairs team to ensure consistent messages, and evidence of successes, are provided to the various Government departments.

Project support for the Contract Managers on Aerospace Technology Institute projects.

Interfacing with customers both via telephone and face to face.

Working together with Finance to ensure clear financial metrics are maintained for the funded projects.

Participation in the formulation of the 'Wing of the Future' program

Required skills

You must be an undergraduate for the full duration of the placement, studying towards a degree in one of the following:

Business
Engineering
Project Management

·  Business Acumen
·  An interest in understanding the complexities of the Aerospace Industry and how technology makes a difference
·  Good understanding of Microsoft Office
·  Strong communication skills, including presentations
·  Understanding of Finance (advantageous)
