Description of the job :

As the 3rd line NOC you will provide support and management capabilities to the Defence Information Infrastructure to various projects. You will be working on project requirements providing all aspects of continued management of the live infrastructure through to close down.

Your role supports and maintains the management infrastructure and applications that support the Service Operations Centres. You will provide technical assistance to both internal and instructional documentation to the engineer community within the NOC. You will be an interface to other technical team members within projects including Architects, other engineering disciplines, and sub-contractors. 

You will solve issues that other engineers escalate to you. As part of the role you will ensure the networks are kept running smoothly, patched and updated to maintain service.

Task & accountabilities :
• Provide the lead technical role in resolving service incidents, applying diagnosis, maintenance, change and configuration control attributes to bring about a resolution.
• Apply technical governance to inbound deliveries from the project design phase to ensure they reflect the live environment, and are structured to ensure successful technical service delivery.
• Perform and achieve outputs within the service contract time constraints (KPI’s & SLA’s).
• Drive efficiency into technical delivery as a key influence and author of departmental and inter departmental process.
• Champion the attainment of industry standard and vendor specific certifications and complimentary academic qualifications, including those under the umbrella of Cisco, and topics in advanced networking.

Required skills :

You will demonstrate -

·  Experience with networking across multiple vendors
·  Knowledge of databases ( Microsoft SQL Server 2014 and above)
·  Knowledge of Microsoft-based operating systems with emphasis on Windows 2008 / 2012 / 2016 server, Active Directory, Exchange Server 2010 and Microsoft Network tools (DHCP, DNS, WSUS, WDP)
·  Experience of Firewalls managing and configuring policies, patches and upgrades (Checkpoint / Cisco ASA)
·  Experience of supporting SAN storage technologies (HP Storage arrays) & Virtualised Environments (VMWare / vCentre)
·  Knowledgeable and experience supporting backup solutions (Symantec Backup Exec)
·  Knowledge of Service Desk tooling
·  Unix experience - Desirable
