Job Description:
Airbus Helicopters is looking for a Long-term Intern to join our Quality Engineering department based in Columbus, MS.
You will be in a team performing studies of production and repair station operations and analyzing data to resolve areas needing improvement. You will also provide support to improve quality processes, operational efficiency and workflow.

Your Working Environment:
On the eastern border of Mississippi you’ll find Columbus, home to our Helicopter manufacturing and assembly lines and Center of Excellence for the entire North America region. It’s here that we produce the UH-72A Lakota Helicopters for the U.S. Army in addition to the H-125 aircraft for civil and commercial customers.
Your Challenges:

Assist Quality team by supporting problem solving, transformation, lean manufacturing, process/continuous improvement, innovation and six sigma projects.
·
Learn the root cause analysis and continuous improvement processes at Airbus Helicopters and assist/participate in improvement efforts.
·
Update visual management schemes, metrics, and support analysis and tools to assist in operating manufacturing.
·
Document 5S scores, housekeeping audits and FOD levels. Assist in compliance with NAS 412.
·
Other duties as assigned.
Your Boarding Pass:
·
High School diploma or equivalent experience and currently enrolled in Bachelor's Degree program for aerospace, engineering or manufacturing
·
Must be currently enrolled at Mississippi State University
·
Able to work onsite in Columbus Mississippi for the duration of the Internship, required
·
Some office work environment preferred. Must be well organized and have good time management skills. Ability to use computers and associated software.
·
Requires ability to communicate effectively verbally and in written form
·
Requires use of computer and proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and G Suite. AutoCAD and VBA proficiency are preferred.
Able to work in the US without a current or future need for visa sponsorship/work authorization, required

Vision: able to see and read computer screen and other electronic equipment with screens, able to read documents, reports and engineering drawings. Required daily.

Hearing: able to hear to participate in conversations in person and via teleconference or phone and to hear sounds on production floor including safety warnings or alarms. Required daily.

Speaking: able to speak in conversations and meetings, deliver information and participate in communications. Required daily.
·
Equipment Operation: able to operate most office and personal electronic equipment. Required daily.
·
Carrying: able to carry documents, drawings, electronic equipment up to 10lbs. daily
·
Lifting: able to lift documents, drawings, electronic equipment up to 10lbs. daily
·
Pushing / Pulling: able to push and pull small office furniture and some equipment and tools. Rarely required.
·
Sitting: able to sit for long periods of time in meetings, working on computer. Required daily.
·
Squatting / Kneeling: able to squat or kneel to retrieve or replace items stored on low shelving. Required infrequently.
·
Standing: able to stand for discussions in offices or on production floor. Required daily.
·
Travel: able to travel independently and at short notice. Approximately 5% - 10%.
·
Walking: able to walk through office and production areas including uneven surfaces. Required daily.
·
Personal Protective Equipment required: steel toed shoes are required for all shop floor visits; appropriate hearing/eye protection may also be required when visiting the shop floor
