We are looking for motivated students to join our teams at Airbus Commercial Aircraft or Airbus Defence & Space in Toulouse area.

An internship vacancy titled: “Morphing structure – for CTO innovation (M/F)” has arisen within Airbus in Toulouse.

The internship position will be hosted in the CTO organisation, XTC, Emerging Technologies & Concepts, part of the Airbus R&T group. Our goal is to explore new technologies and accelerate their potential implementation on Airbus products. Our mission is to incubate, accelerate and elevate technology through fast prototyping.

ProtoSpace is a mean supporting this organisation, equivalent to a FabLab within Airbus. Airbus has 10 ProtoSpace, including one in Toulouse where the internship will be hosted.

The intern will prototype an Airbus aircraft wing flap in view to demonstrate the benefits of morphing in the improvement of aerodynamic and structural performances of a Long Range Aircraft

The internship will start from April 2019 (date subject to some flexibility) and its duration is 4 to 6 months.

Tasks & accountabilities

You will:

- Build and assemble a first non-flying aircraft flap prototype (scale 1, fully functional for an Airbus aircraft) produced in the Protospace
- Design prototypes to validate the concept,
- Integrate morphing concept to the prototype as a flight configuration,
- Interact with Airbus design engineers, safety & reliability engineers, flight test engineers with the view to prepare the flight test.

Required skills

Above all, you must be highly interested in digital transformation challenges.

In terms of education, you are currently enrolled in a master in Mechanical/Structural Engineering.

You have the following skills and experience:
- A structure background and an experience (at least as student project) on structural design and justification.
- Catia knowledge is a plus.

- Great interest for hands-on work
- Creative mindset.

- Good English is mandatory,
- German is a plus
