Description of Airbus UpNext DragonFly Demonstrator

UpNext launches a new flight demonstrator, Airbus UpNext DragonFly, to go a step further to pave the way for autonomous flights on commercial aircraft.

In particular, this demonstrator aims to demonstrate the ability to ensure safe flight back and landing.

All the outcomes of this demonstration will contribute to preparing more autonomous aircraft of the next decade.

On top of these technical challenges, this demonstration has to be achieved in less than 30months.

Team spirit, proactivity and pragmatism will be the key ingredients to make this unique journey successful.

DragonFly team is searching for a Autonomous Landing Designer (M/F) to design, develop and test an on-board solution that autonomously provides a safe path to a destination enabling the aircraft to safely land.

As such, you will have to:

·
Research, design, mock-up, implement (or specify) and validate the features enabling to fly safely the aircraft to the airport landing without pilot action.

·
Work with pilots and air traffic controllers to identify the operational constraints and consolidate and validate the operational concept

·
Work with academic teams to find out the best algorithmic solutions for decision making and trajectory generation

·
Contribute to enhance the simulation environment to enable mass testing. Set up solutions to improve testing efficiency (more efficient scenarios choice and results analysis)

The job holder will also take part in the design, implementation, validation and flight clearance of solutions enabling to propose relevant taxi paths to the pilot.

You are passionate about aeronautics, looking for an incredible journey that will enable you to grow your ideas from mathematical concepts to flying solutions, motivated by the challenge and ready to constantly learn and to develop yourself and the others, this project could be yours joining the DragonFly team.
