Description of the job

A vacancy has opened at Airbus for the position of Environmental Representative UK. Based at Filton the successful candidate will join the team in Health and Safety and provide national level communication and coordination of environmental matters for the various internal management system and compliance stakeholders.

You will maintain clear dialogue between the entities' and corporate environmental management teams, support the political and legislative interface, provide a clear overview of the entities' management systems and compliance, support entity understanding and implementation of internal and external environmental requirements, and the development of harmonised systems and risk controls, and be a national environmental focal point for internal and external stakeholders.

Tasks & accountabilities

The main tasks and responsibilities will include:

National environmental activities:

·  Support the National Entity Representatives as necessary
·  Identify key internal and external stakeholders and their needs and expectations
·  Support the corporate environmental teams in the external representation of Airbus
·  Administrative work commensurate with the national role, including development of position papers, analysis, reporting and campaigns
·  Disseminate and promote corporate environmental messages and Lines-To-Take.
·  Agree content for local communication activities with entity environmental teams and obtain their approval prior to any relevant external communication
·  Coordinate documentation and record keeping related to the corporate environment management teams' activities in the UK
·  Clarify that the various requirements defined by local legislation are appropriately managed
·  Periodically report on the level of awareness and understanding of internal requirements to facilitate the regulatory compliance of the Airbus entities within the country
·  Support the production and delivery of environmental parts of UK entities Board reports and reviews

Represent the entities' legal, cultural and managerial position in the development and application of corporate environmental management requirements and monitoring activities, for example:

·  Report on new and modified legislation, relevant to the scope of activity, to be included in the Register of Applicable Legislation
·  Contribute to, and support deployment of, corporate environmental policy and objectives
·  Contribute to the definition of the annual environmental audit plan and support both internal audits and ISO14001 recertification and surveillance audits
·  Liaise with corporate environmental teams, H&S RAM and H&S KAM's on entity topics including:
·  significant risks and opportunities, and mitigation actions
·  monitoring and compliance status
·  current issues (including accident / incident and main environmental aspects)
·  resources and budget issues
·  Provide input for corporate environmental management systems review
·  Represent divisional corporate environmental teams at national level and support other divisional corporate environmental managers in country related matters
·  Advocate appropriate arguments for environmental issues at national and local level in line with corporate environmental management requirements and roadmaps
·  Support corporate investigations at national or local level to help improve environmental performance and/or maintain regulatory compliance
·  Promote and support the deployment of relevant corporate tools in the entity

Support the entities' policy and legal compliance, for example:

·  Collaborate with entity EHS managers to define actions that deliver policy and legal compliance
·  Promote environmental actions in accordance with Corporate directives and procedures
·  Support the entity EHS Managers with their implementation of corporate environmental objectives and requirements
·  Contribute to the continuous improvement of management systems
·  Promote integration and use of corporate environmental processes and tools
·  Support the definition of the appropriate level of environmental support for the entities
·  Provide visibility of local communication plans, share best practice and ensure message alignment with corporate environmental management
·  Support the delivery of monitoring and compliance data and information, for corporate environmental management analysis and reporting

This role will involve travel for business and as such you must be able to travel accordingly.

Required skills

We are looking for candidates with the following skills and experience:

·  Degree level education minimum is a related topic, with recognised professional qualification in a relevant discipline, (e.g. Diploma, Masters,).
·  Fluent English language skills; second European language an advantage.
·  Demonstrable detailed understanding of relevant key Legislation and Standards such as European Environmental Directives and ISO14001:2015.
·  Demonstrated relevant work experience with evidence of proven environmental experience, including for example:
·  Defining and implementing environmental management processes
·  Environmental consultancy
·  Environmental management auditing
·  Ability to identify issues, develop logical conclusions and prioritise pragmatic, compliant solutions.
·  Confident, with good communications skills and negotiation level of spoken and written English.
·  Experience of working as part of a dispersed, multi-national network, including external resources
·  Ability to work on own initiative, as well as part of a team
·  A considerate team player with a sense of humour and a diplomatic and engaging way of working
·  Environment management / Environmental auditing / Environmental consultancy
·  Professional affiliation an advantage; IEMA / IOSH / similar
