Job Description:
This position reports directly to the Supervisor, Composite Assembly. The Composite Assembly Technician is responsible for assembly of helicopter parts through various joining and bonding methods. The Composite Assembly Technician fits parts together through the use of jigs, fixtures and using small hand and pneumatic tools.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
Production:
·
Joining of composite to composite components through resin bonding, riveting, and fasteners
·
Installation of fasteners to composites – nut plates and riv nuts
·
Potting of inserts into core – core removal, surface preparation, insert bonding
·
Joining of metallic components to composite through resin bonding, riveting, fasteners, etc.
·
Proper locating of components to be joined through cleco use and back drilling
·
Understanding of proper bonding techniques – surface preparation, resin mixing and curing methods
·
Reworking of assemblies to remove minor imperfections
·
Fitting of components to match drawing, MID or specifications for part
·
Grinding, sanding, trimming parts to fit
·
Dry fitting of parts for proper layout procedure prior to installation / bonding
·
Ensuring proper torque values are met, torque striping of connections and safety wiring as required.
·
Working knowledge of IFMA’s and EI’s (specifications).
·
Ensure all production orders are completed fully and properly with all traceability for all components.
·
High attention to detail and mechanical ability.
Departmental Involvement:
·
Troubleshooting and recommendations for process/tooling/ergonomic/safety improvements
·
Foster health and safety in the workplace and knowledge of health and safety requirements.
·
Demonstrate standard work practices to ensure quality standards are met
·
Ensure work areas and equipment kept clean and neat – 5S and FOD free
·
Assist with work station set up
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS
Education
·
High school diploma or equivalent
Knowledge, Skills, Demonstrated Capabilities:
·
Knowledge of the operations processes and 3 years of experience performing them
·
Experience using small hand tools such as clamps, rivet guns, drills, grinders, taps, wrenches, knives and screwdrivers
·
Ability to understand quality requirements and how to effectively meet quality standards
·
Teamwork focus

Attention to detail
·
Follow standardized work instructions
·
Be able to use measuring instruments and ability to read blueprint
·
Mechanical aptitude
·
Service minded
·
Experience in aerospace industry preferred
