Job Title: Home to School Passenger Assistant
Location: Wigan Borough
Contract Details: Temporary (2 months), term-time only
Salary: £12.18
Responsibilities:
· Assist passengers on and off the vehicle at the start and end of their journey
· Safely transport passengers to and from their educational establishments
· Provide support and engage with passengers with disabilities and complex needs
· Manage challenging behaviours, promoting a calm and relaxed environment
· Deliver successful intervention techniques and share best practises with the team
· Accurately record and report incidents in a detailed and timely manner
· Ensure the safety, comfort, and well-being of passengers throughout the journey
· Build effective relationships with passengers, their families, carers, and schools
· Attend mandatory staff engagement sessions, interviews, and training courses
· Adhere to GDPR guidelines and maintain data confidentiality
Essential (Knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience):
· Flexible and positive attitude to accommodate short notice route alterations
· Strong understanding of communication channels and stakeholder management
· Physically capable of performing tasks related to the role, including bending and lifting
· Knowledge of safeguarding procedures for vulnerable children
· Commitment to creating a secure and safe environment for all service users
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
· Comfortable with using digital tools and technologies
· Proactive approach to continuous training and skill development
· Ability to problem-solve and work independently
· Punctuality, reliability, and professional appearance
Desirable (Knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience):
· Familiarity with local educational establishments and routes
· Experience working with children
· First aid certification or willingness to obtain one
· Previous experience in passenger assistance roles
Technologies:
· Basic knowledge of digital tools for communication and reporting purposes

Note: This role involves split shifts and requires employees to travel to a prearranged pick-up point if living outside of Wigan. Staff are not required during school holidays as the role is term-time only.
