Adecco Property Services specialist Division North is delighted to be partnering with an amazing West Midlands local authority to recruit for permanent Building Control professionals to join the Planning & Regeneration team.
Roles
* Building Control Officer
* Senior Building Control officer
Purpose
To implement and enforce the requirements of the Building Regulations and Associated Legislation in an effective and efficient manner, both in an office and site environment, dealing with a varied and heavy workload, to ensure that Statutory Requirements are met.
Duties
* To maintain registration as a Registered Building Inspector with the Building Safety Regulator to a competency level no lower than Class 2b.
* To be responsible for and to manage their own work in consultation with the Building Control Manager, ensuring that the services provided are delivered effectively and efficiently.
* To contribute to the overall performance of the Section by assisting in the preparation, implementation, and review of the Section Delivery Plan to maintain and improve service delivery.
* To determine submitted applications for compliance with the Building Regulations and Associated Legislation including carrying out all necessary consultations with internal and external Consultees, liaison with Agents and Applicants and all other associated works necessary, including keeping appropriate records, so as to enable a decision to be made on the Application within Statutory time limits
* To make an initial assessment of buildings reported to be in a dangerous condition and subsequently to make the necessary referrals for further action as required
* To undertake, in a safe manner complying with all necessary Health and Safety requirements, Site Inspections as appropriate to ensure constructed works follow Statutory Legislation and Guidance and to undertake associated administration.
* To prepare statements of evidence on Building Regulation matters and to give evidence on behalf of the Council at examinations in public, court, public inquiries and informal hearings and where necessary act as an expert witness.
* To make an initial assessment of buildings reported to be in a dangerous condition and subsequently to make the necessary referrals for further action as required.
* To ensure that relevant licensing inspections are undertaken to facilitate a safe environment for the public.
Candidates Requirements
* Experience and strong knowledge of Building control aspects and understand its operational function.
* Educated to a degree level or any other related qualifications to the building control/built environment or willingness to progress with a BSc/ membership of RICS, CIOB or CABE
* Be a Registered Building Inspector with the Building Safety Regulator to a competency level no lower than Class 2b.
* Able to undertake site inspections in an effective and efficient manner, to be able to verify constructional compliance.
* Great communications skills and stakeholder's management - especially council representatives.
* IT literate and able to use Microsoft package and other relevant tools - GIS
* Have a positive approach towards customers and adaptable skills
* Senior - have strong leadership skills and good commercial awareness
Salary & package
* Officer - £39,186 (+ £6000 market supplement) = £45,186
* Senior - £43,421 (+ £6000 market supplement) = £49,421
