Job Description
Your key duties will include (but not limited to):
Sanitation & Hygiene:
· Maintain high standards of cleanliness in the kitchen and staff common areas, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
Equipment Handling:
· Properly handle, wash, and store kitchen equipment, dishes, and utensils.
Dishwashing & Cleaning:
· Operate commercial dishwashing equipment to clean dishes, utensils, and kitchen tools.
· Maintain cleanliness of kitchen floors, walls, and storage areas.
Ensure all cleaning tasks comply with health and safety regulations.
Waste Management:
· Ensure that all waste and recyclables are disposed of properly and efficiently.
· Dispose of kitchen waste in accordance with environmental and safety guidelines.
· Assist in recycling efforts and minimize waste production.
Team Support:
· Assist the culinary team by providing clean and sanitized equipment, contributing to smooth kitchen operations.
Inventory Management:
· Assist in managing cleaning supplies and report any shortages or maintenance issues.
Health & Safety Compliance:
· Adhere to all workplace health and safety policies
· Report any hazards or safety concerns to the supervisor promptly.
· Participate in regular training sessions on food safety and workplace safety procedures.
Qualifications
Your qualifications & attributes are (but not limited to):
Experience:
· Previous experience in a commercial kitchen environment is advantageous but not essential.
· Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced setting.
Skills:
· Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness.
· Basic knowledge of food safety practices.
· Ability to follow instructions and work collaboratively within a team.
Physical Requirements:
· Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physical tasks.
· Capacity to lift and carry items up to 20kg.
Availability:
· Flexibility to work across a rotating roster comprising of various shifts, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
This role is essential in maintaining the operational flow of the kitchen, ensuring that chefs and kitchen staff have the necessary tools and a clean environment to prepare meals efficiently.
