Scheduled to complete the changes in Spring 2024, the hotel will provide an all-encompassing experience where entertainment, leisure, dinning, conferencing and unparalleled hospitality will converge seamlessly, transcending traditional hotel boundaries.

We're setting new standards in the Australian hospitality scene and we're seeking for our new Director of Engineering to be part of the  “ Rebirth of a Sydney Icon”  with us!

Job Description

Reporting directly to the General Manager, you will play an integral part in our leadership team as well as lead our Engineering team at Sofitel Sydney Wentworth. You will be:   

·  Providing a high level of property maintenance knowledge. 
·  Responsible for maintaining the building, grounds and physical plant with particular attention towards safety, security and asset protection. 
·  Leading a team of Engineering professionals, with the assistance of an Assistant Chief. 
·  Accountable for managing the budget, capital expenditure projects, preventive maintenance, energy conservation and sustainability initiatives. 
·  Maintaining standards and regulatory requirements. 
·  Managing contractors.
·  Ensuring the hotel upholds WH&S and fire safety responsibilities.
·  Leading the emergency response for all facility issues.  
·  Auditing and reporting as required.
·  Managing project work ensuring timelines  are met.

Qualifications

Your skills & experience include:

·  Experience in the management of a maintenance function within a large multi-story complex
·  Ability to multi-task with exceptional communication and organizational skills
·  Demonstrated success in leading and developing a team
·  Thinking outside the box and proven problem-solving
·  Ability to carry out emergency maintenance work in the event of an emergency such as a full power failure, evacuation fire system re-set and/or failure of mechanical systems
