Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated professional to join our esteemed culinary team in the role of Commis Cook. This position offers an opportunity for career advancement in a world-class culinary environment.
As a Commis Cook, your primary responsibilities will include:
· Execute fundamental kitchen duties with precision, including fruit and vegetable preparation, and efficient food item distribution throughout the hotel
· Contribute to the culinary team by assisting in the plating of dishes, ensuring consistency and adherence to presentation standards
· Strictly follow standardized recipes and specifications to maintain quality control and consistency in food preparation
· Maintain impeccable cleanliness and organization of work areas, including refrigeration units, countertops, and cooking surfaces
· Implement and adhere to station opening and closing procedures according to established standards
· Minimize overproduction and food waste through proper inventory management, including accurate labeling, rotation, and storage of food items
· Operate kitchen equipment in compliance with safety protocols, promptly reporting any malfunctions or deficiencies
· Ensure strict adherence to food safety guidelines in all aspects of food handling, storage, preparation, and service
· Actively participate in maintaining a safe working environment and contribute to health and safety initiatives
· Comply with all hotel environmental policies and sustainability practices
· Perform additional tasks as assigned by kitchen management
This position requires a high level of attention to detail, commitment to excellence, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
Qualifications
· Minimum Professional Certificate in a Culinary-related field
· Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in the Food & Beverage industry (hotel and free-standing restaurant) in a similar position
· A WSQ Food Safety certificate is an advantage
· Good interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate with all levels of colleagues
· Service-oriented with an eye for details
· Multicultural awareness and ability to work and thrive within a culturally diverse environment
· Good presentation and influencing skills
· Ability to work independently and have good initiative in a dynamic environment
