Pullman and Mercure Brisbane King George Square is a vibrant 438 room twin towered hotel which acts as a sanctuary for leisure and business travelers. Located opposite King George Square, City Hall and ideally situated in the heart of Brisbane CBD the hotel has some of the largest conference spaces in Brisbane incorporating 2 ballrooms. The hotel also features the amazing and extremely popular venues of Goldfinch Restaurant and Street Cafe, Sixteen Antlers Rooftop Bar as well as KG Bar and an Executive Lounge.
Are you passionate about creating delicious dishes and eager to sharpen your culinary skills in a dynamic kitchen? We are currently seeking a passionate Commis Chef to join our professional Kitchen team and bring flavor to every plate!
Job Description
To be successful in this role you should:
· Food preparation for breakfast, lunch, dinner, room service, functions and buffet service.
· Maintain a clean and hygienic work environment whilst ensuring a product of high quality and presentation standards.
· Prepare and ensure availability of mis en place as required.
· Ensure strict stock rotation and minimum wastage, whereby you will be responsible for implementing and maintaining stock control procedures.
· Keep all working areas clean and tidy. Ensure all equipment is maintained, serviced and cleaned. Report any problems to the Executive Chef.
· Prepare and present menu items showing variety and flair, within the cost margins specified by the hotel.
· Check all food is stored and handled correctly as per current food health and hygiene regulations.
Qualifications
· Trade qualification in Cookery and experience in a similar role, preferably within a hotel environment.
· Detail-focused with the ability to deliver consistently high-quality food under pressure
· Energetic and proactive with enthusiasm to develop your culinary expertise
· A team player who easily builds rapport with colleagues and guests alike
· Time management skills with the ability to multitask
· Good interpersonal skills with ability to communicate with all levels of team members
· Flexible availability to work a rotating roster, including weekends and public holidays
