Job Description
We are seeking a talented and passionate Commi specializing in South Indian Cuisine to join our culinary team in Mysuru, India. As a Commi, you will play a crucial role in preparing authentic South Indian dishes while supporting our kitchen operations.
· Assist in the preparation and cooking of South Indian dishes under the guidance of senior chefs
· Ensure the quality and consistency of food items according to established recipes and standards
· Maintain a clean and organized workstation, adhering to food safety and hygiene regulations
· Properly store and rotate ingredients to minimize waste and maintain freshness
· Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure smooth operations during service hours
· Assist in menu development and the creation of new South Indian dishes
· Participate in regular kitchen meetings and training sessions to enhance culinary skills
· Support inventory management by reporting low stock levels and assisting with ordering when needed
Qualifications
· Proven experience as a Commis Chef or in a similar role, preferably with a focus on South Indian cuisine
· Strong knowledge of South Indian cooking techniques, ingredients, and spices
· Excellent knife skills and ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment
· Thorough understanding of food safety and hygiene practices
· Ability to follow recipes accurately and maintain consistency in food preparation
· Strong time management and organizational skills
· Team player with excellent communication abilities
· Culinary degree or diploma preferred
· Food safety certification required
· Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and lift heavy items when necessary
· Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays
· Passion for South Indian cuisine and a commitment to culinary excellence
