Novotel Sydney Darling Square is seeking an experienced and energetic Assistant Manager to join our team on a Full-Time basis. Novotel Sydney Darling Square which is conveniently located amongst Sydney’s CBD, Darling Harbour, Darling Square and ICC precincts is the perfect location for guests whether they’re travelling for business, leisure, or both. Our 230 contemporary accommodation rooms overlook the Darling Square precinct on one side and The Chinese Garden of Friendship on the other.

Job Description

Reporting to the Front Office Manager you will be responsible for the successful operation of the Hotel in the absence of the Front Office and General Manager. You will be responsible in ensuring a memorable and personalised service is delivered to each of our guests with a huge focus on driving loyalty sign-ups, and will be confident in handling guest complaints efficiently and effectively. Managing the operations of the front desk you will be responsible for tasks such as check ins/outs, amenities, reporting, and responding to guest queries.

You will supervise and manage the front office team while on shift, and will be responsible for effective onboarding and training ensuring there is continued support and development of the team.  Most importantly you will effectively manage any emergency situations that arise within the Hotel, ensuring you follow Hotel procedures and processes.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role you will pride yourself on your exceptional customer service skills. You will ideally have previous experience in an Assistant Manager role, or at least as a Front Office Supervisor. You will have experience in leading, managing and motivating a team. You will be an effective communicator both verbally and written. You will be an effective problem solver, who takes a proactive approach to ensure guest frustrations and issues are mitigated. As the Hotel representative in the absence of the Front Office and General Manager you will lead by example, and be able to support all Hotel departments.

You will be comfortable with Microsoft Office suite, and will ideally have experience using Opera and Resaweb. You will have the flexibility to work a varied roster including morning, nights, weekends, and public holidays. In addition to all this it is essential to have a valid RSA and First Aid qualification.
