Job description

Transport is at the core of modern society. Imagine using your expertise to shape sustainable transport and infrastructure solutions for the future? If you seek to make a difference on a global scale, working with next-gen technologies and the sharpest collaborative teams, then we could be a perfect match.

Background
Automated driving is likely as the next revolution to improve the productivity and safety of the on- and off-road vehicle transport system.

When developing automated driving systems, standard system engineering principles are being followed, such as requirement management. Writing, maintaining, and verifying requirements are manual and time-consuming work. Different stakeholders must be considered when writing the requirements. One important stakeholder are the many standards the system needs to adhere to, such as Functional Safety standards.

The main objective of this thesis is to train and integrate a Language Model (LLM) into a requirement management system used by Volvo. It is expected that the LLM could improve the quality and reduce the effort to write requirements.

Objective

·  Setup and train a LLM to:

- Analyze existing requirements for completeness, consistency, or other quality attributes.
- Using the model to assist in requirement elicitation, in particular to reason with it regarding standards fulfilment.
- Using the model to generate new requirements.

·  The LLM shall be provided as a stand-alone tool which will be used and evaluated by Volvo engineers.
·  As a stretch objective the stand-alone tool shall be integrated into an existing Volvo requirement management system.

Scope and Method

·  Literature study of requirement management and LLMs.
·  Setup of LLM development environment.
·  Training of LLM using dataset provided by Volvo, including applicable standards.
·  Development of a stand-alone tool that uses the LLM for requirement management. Python is the suggested programming language.
·  Evaluation of tool together with Volvo requirement management experts.
·  Integration with Volvo requirement management system.
·  Write final report.

Who Are You?
