As a Landing Gear Service Technician, you will support airlines and maintenance organisations worldwide by inspecting, repairing, overhauling and recertifying aircraft landing gear systems.

Working both within Safran's specialist maintenance facility and at customer sites across the UK and internationally, you will play a vital role in ensuring aircraft return to service safely, reliably and in full compliance with regulatory requirements.

This is a hands-on, customer-facing position offering extensive travel, technical variety and opportunities to develop specialist expertise across multiple aircraft platforms.

Key Responsibilities

Inspect, repair, overhaul, assemble and test aircraft landing gear systems and associated components.

Conduct on-site maintenance, repair and recertification activities at customer facilities worldwide.

Diagnose faults, assess component condition and implement corrective actions.

Interpret maintenance manuals, engineering drawings, service bulletins and airworthiness documentation.

Carry out detailed inspections and testing using specialist measurement and diagnostic equipment.

Support Aircraft on Ground (AOG) events and urgent customer requirements.

Maintain accurate maintenance records and certification documentation.

Prepare, maintain and control specialised tooling used during maintenance activities.

Adhere to all health, safety, environmental and airworthiness requirements.

Build strong customer relationships and represent Safran professionally at all times.

Collaborate with Engineering, Quality and Operations teams to resolve technical issues and improve processes.

This role directly supports Safran's commitment to safety, operational excellence and customer satisfaction by ensuring critical aircraft landing gear systems are maintained to the highest standards of quality and airworthiness. Through responsive technical support, expert maintenance and professional customer engagement, the Landing Gear Service Technician helps keep aircraft operating safely, minimises downtime for customers and strengthens Safran's reputation as a trusted global aerospace partner.

We are looking for passionate individuals to join our Manufacture, Assembly and Repair team as a Service Engineer at our Gloucester site.

Candidate skills & requirements

Engineering Apprenticeship (or equivalent) with experience in an aerospace or aviation maintenance environment.

Previous landing gear maintenance experience preferred.

Ability to interpret maintenance manuals, technical drawings and engineering instructions.

Strong mechanical aptitude with experience using hand tools and precision measuring equipment.

Basic understanding of electrical systems and fault diagnosis.

Strong problem-solving and root cause analysis skills.

Excellent attention to detail and commitment to safety and quality standards.

Effective communication skills with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Good IT skills and ability to maintain accurate records.

Flexible, reliable and capable of making decisions in demanding operational environments.

Full UK driving licence.

Willing and able to travel internationally at short notice, including frequent overseas assignments, and medically fit to travel.

Experience of working at height, risk management and Human Factors principles is desirable.

Knowledge of quality systems, continuous improvement and Lean practices would be advantageous.
