In the UK, Safran Seats specialises solely in the First Class and Business Class seating markets for wide body aircraft, with industrial and engineering teams in Cwmbran and Newport, Wales and Brackley, England.
Job Summary:
The role will provide an interface between Engineering and Manufacturing, investigating of issues that arise during the manufacturing process that require Engineering support, and driving improvement into our engineering designs.
Scope of responsibilities:
You will be a key individual contributor and part of the Safran Seats GB Engineering Projects office. You will provide support to projects across Delivery, Test and Prototyping, and Sustaining Production.
Some UK and international travel is to be anticipated, visiting Group companies, technology partners, research institutes, and suppliers (approx. 5% of role).
Key responsibilities and duties:
• Act as a liaison between the Engineering IPT's, Permits & Concessions team, and Manufacturing, heightening the knowledge of product designs amongst our production teams, and increasing knowledge of Manufacturing processes amongst Engineering teams.
• Proactively respond to problems in the production or assembly of parts, subsystems and products.
• Investigate issues that arise during the manufacturing process, identifying and driving improvement into our engineering designs.
• Work with engineering project teams and Post Design Projects (PDP) to communicate the issues faced by Manufacturing and support conception of solutions.
• Communicate proposed engineering solutions to Manufacturing teams.
• Support the creation of permits/concessions paperwork as required to implement engineering changes, and support the completion of Engineering Change Requests (ECRs) for the implementation of enduring solutions.
• Develop and support data collection and data analysis solutions to define product improve solutions and measure their benefits
To succeed in this role you need to be customer focused and you'll be expected to demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills (involving working effectively with others), showing proactivity and initiative with the ability to influence others.

Job Requirements
Be self-reliant, hardworking, pro-active, motivated and an achiever. E
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing using the English language including verbal, and written presentations. E
Skilled in mechanical design, to mix complex geometries and CAD manipulation E
Able to establish good working relationships with all stakeholders. E
Be qualified with an accredited Degree or equivalent level in
Electronic Engineering, Computer Science Manufacturing,
Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical engineering or Materials
Science field. E
Good knowledge of Manufacturing, Quality and Project Management - E
Have at least working knowledge of PLM and ERP systems - E
Have experience in engineering design packages (e.g. Catia,
Nastran) - D
Demonstrate strong communication skills including verbal, written and formal presentations - E
Have strong analytical and problem solving skills with a pragmatic hands on approach, including the use of appropriate data handling software - E
Good working knowledge of Microsoft applications (e.g. MS Teams, Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Project) - E
Full UK driving license and valid passport essential as travel may be required - E
Be registered with the Engineering Council at Incorporated Engineer (IEng) level and member of a recognised professional body - D
Familiar with several project management methods (Agile, Waterfall, Hybrid, etc.) and the principles of engineering, defining needs and managing requirements in their field - D
