What will I be doing?

Heat treatment is designed to alter a part's structural properties through operations that conduct predefined heating and cooling cycles in a controlled atmospheres, for example a vacuum furnace. These operations are designed to improve the part's mechanical characteristics, for example its hardness and elasticity, so that it meets specifications (e.g. robustness). Special processes like heat treatment require a specific

aerospace industry qualification approval.

Complementary Description

• Perform heat treatment operations based on instructions and drawings, according to current standards and requirements

• Understand and apply the appropriate treatment, set parameters, insert and remove parts and control the equipment if required, undertake certain checks, detect anomalies and adjust where allowed

• Wear the appropriate protective equipment

• Check equipment (workpieces, tools, inspection equipment,vacuum chambers, etc.)

• Position parts on heat treatment tooling

• Program furnace/heat treatment equipment

• Insert parts / batches into the furnace

• Optimize loads

• Monitor thermal cycles

• Between operations, ensure heat treatment equipment is configured properly in accordance with instructions

• Fill out traceability documents

• Maintain the workstation, equipment and work area according to current instructions and pay particular attention to periodic equipment checks and calibration

• Check compliance of heat treatment

• Conduct visual checks

• Perform checks on test samples where required by instructions.

• Additional checks may be carried out
