Job description

Position Overview:

This position is responsible for supporting the Payroll and Payroll Tax departments with a particular focus on garnishment administration, payroll processing, and payroll tax compliance tasks. This role requires a foundational understanding of payroll operations, including exposure to ADP payroll systems and basic payroll taxation. The specialist will serve as a backup within the team to ensure continuity during absences and high workload periods.

Responsibilities Include but are not limited to:

• Administer and process all wage withholding orders, including garnishments, child support, and tax levies.

• Assist in running payrolls using ADP (Vantage or other modules as applicable).

• Review, prioritize, and respond to daily payroll and payroll tax mailbox items.

• Research payroll tax notices received by mail, ensure timely and accurate upload into ADP SmartCompliance.

• Manage the logins database for state and local payroll tax accounts.

• Provide excellent customer service to internal teams and employees regarding payroll and garnishment inquiries.

• Act as a department backup to support payroll operations during periods of team shortage or increased volume.

• Maintain confidentiality of sensitive employee and company data.

• Stay informed of changes in payroll tax regulations and best practices.

Required: High school diploma

Preferred: BA/BS in a related field or equivalent American Payroll Association certification

Candidate skills & requirements

Requirements include but are not limited to:

• 1-2 years of hands-on experience with full-cycle payroll processing.

• Demonstrated knowledge of payroll garnishments and wage withholding procedures.

• Experience with ADP payroll systems is required.

• Basic understanding of payroll tax concepts and compliance needs.

• Maintains a critical eye toward existing processes and proactively seeks opportunities for improvement.

• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

• Ability to manage time, priorities, and multiple tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment.

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

• Ability to work both independently and within a team.
