Job description

Job Summary:

This role involves supporting efforts to enhance shop floor performance within an aerospace repair environment by developing Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and implementing visual manufacturing tools. The position works closely with the operations team to analyze workflows, design practical solutions, and introduce systems that improve transparency, efficiency, and productivity. This internship provides a hands-on opportunity to apply analytical skills and operational knowledge in a fast-paced aerospace repair setting, contributing to impactful, real-world projects.

Essential Job Functions:

‐ Collaborate with the operations team to identify critical performance metrics and develop effective KPIs to measure shop floor performance.

‐ Assist in the design and implementation of visual management tools such as dashboards, scoreboards, and floor-level communication boards.

‐ Conduct time studies, data collection, and analysis to identify areas for process improvement.

‐ Work with cross-functional teams to understand workflow and operational challenges to propose practical solutions.

‐ Support the creation and deployment of standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure consistent use of visual manufacturing tools.

‐ Provide training and guidance to shop floor employees on understanding and utilizing KPIs and visual tools.

‐ Gather and report on feedback from operators and supervisors regarding the effectiveness of the implemented systems.

‐ Participate in continuous improvement initiatives.

Candidate skills & requirements

Education / Experience:

‐ Currently pursuing a degree in Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, Manufacturing, or a related field.

‐ Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work with data and generate actionable insights.

‐ Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing principles and visual management tools is a plus.

‐ Excellent verbal and written communication skills to work effectively with team members at all levels.

‐ Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, PowerBI); experience with data visualization tools is a plus.

‐ Self-motivated, organized, and capable of managing multiple tasks and deadlines.

‐ This position requires use of information or access to hardware that is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
